The Cleveland Browns have finished the season at 0-16, joining the 2008 Detroit Lions as the only teams to go winless in a 16-game schedule.

In their last 53 regular season games, going back to the last 5 games of 2014, the Browns are 4-49.

That is a mindblowing stat. I would imagine it's possible a really, really crappy NBA team went on a streak that futile before, but I'd have to imagine it's unprecedented in the other major pro sports...

I know the Clippers have gone 12-70 in L.A., but there are a few others with similar years, with 11 to 14 wins. Worst single season is still the 76ers, who went 9-73 in 1972-73.

The Browns also have Houston's first round draft choice, so they will be selecting 1 and 4 (assuming they don't trade either pick).

Li'l Spock had a fun way to look at it.

Since December 2015, there have been 3 Star Wars movies released and only 1 Browns Victory.

Keep going. The new Han Solo movie comes out in May, so by Memorial Day, the totals will be 4 Star Wars movies and 1 Browns win.

They also have Houston's 2nd round pick and the Eagles' 2nd round pick (though the order for the Eagles has not yet been established).

Had to laugh when I noticed that Hue Jackson was fired from the Oakland Raiders after one single 8-8 season, yet gets to keep his job after going 1-31 with the Browns. Just Lose Baby!

Which explains all the jokes about senior college players going back for their Masters I've been hearing.

The Browns are so amazing to me. In a league where parity is religion, they are the apostates. Only four of 32 teams have missed the playoffs more than five years in a row (including this one): Da Bears (7 years in a row), Jets (7), Buccaneers (10) and the Browns on another level having gone 15 years since their last playoff appearance. I root for the Lions, who have gone a not-too-stellar 91-149 in that same time period. That, of course, includes the only other 0-16 season. Even *they* have made it to the playoffs three times since then, just from bunching wins together during years when the NFC North isn't too stacked. The Browns are 67-173 in that time, including one 10-win season. Honestly, you'd almost have to try to be worse. The great thing about the NFL is, though, that every year you start anew. Maybe next year will be their year.
