RIH Edgar Ray Killen

Ku Klux Klansman convicted of orchestrating the deaths of civil rights workers Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner in Mississippi in 1964 in one of the most notorious crimes of the Civil Rights Era. Killen didn't actually participate in the killings and had been acquitted on federal conspiracy charges in 1967. However, the case was reopened by the State of Mississippi in 1999 following some statements made in a newspaper interview by one of the other participants. Killen was convicted of manslaughter in the deaths in 2005 and died in prison.

Age 92.
