Lyrically Speaking - 1/17/18

#1 Post by PrinceOfInsufficientLight » Wed Jan 17, 2018 7:42 am

So I happen to think it's completely unfair that just because the LSWE only takes place during the winter that there can't be a game themed around the wonderful time of Halloween. LB, always desperate for a theme, completely agrees with me... and even donned this long forgotten MM costume and let me host a Wacky Wednesday game! My dreams have finally been fulfilled...... now off to bed before the sun comes up and it gets over five degrees...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. There's no escapin' the jaws of the alien this time
(they're open wide)
This is the end of your life

2. Crazy way he thrills me
Tell you why
Just like a lightning from the sky
He loves to kiss me till I can't see straight

3. I know you want to love her
But let me tell you brother,
She's been sleepin in the devil's bed.

4. Feel the silky touch of my caresses
They will keep you looking so brand new
Let me cover you with velvet kisses
I'll create a look that's made for you

5. I heard somebody call your name
from underneath our willow
I saw something tucked in shame
underneath your pillow

6. There's evil in the air and there's thunder in the sky,
And a killer's on the bloodshot streets.
And down in the tunnels where the deadly are rising
Oh, I swear I saw a young boy down in the gutter
He was starting to foam in the heat.

7. With their tanks and their bombs
And their bombs and their guns

8. It coulda been me but it was you
Who went and bit off a little bit more than he could chew

9. All my friends have to ask me
Something they didn't understand
How I get all the women
In the palm of my hand
I told them...

10. And then there she was
In platform double suede
Yeah, there she was
Like disco lemonade

11. He's the hairy-handed gent who ran amuck in Kent
Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair

12. I get confused, 'cause I don't know where I stand,
And then you smile, and hold my hand.

1. There's no escapin' the jaws of the alien this time

Thriller -- Michael Jackson

2. Crazy way he thrills me

Bad Blood -- Neil Sedaka and Elton John

9. All my friends have to ask me

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains a Halloween reference in the title.

I did a Halloween-themed lyric round for my local theatre trivia fundraiser night. I'll go with "Vampires, Mummies, and the Holy Ghost" -- Jimmy Buffett

Here's the questions, just in case you're interested: FINISH THE LYRIC: HALLOWEEN

I know Halloween was a few days ago, but who wants yet another Christmas lyric game, right? Take these ten songs which are appropriate for Halloween in one way or another, and give the next line of the song. I will read the title of the song, the artist, and the year of release, then read a lyric or partial lyric, then tell you how many words you must come up with to complete the lyric. Your lyric must match our sources completely to be ruled correct.

1. Monster Mash, Bobby “Boris Pickett,” 1962.
From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
(7 words)
2. Werewolves of London, Warren Zevon, 1978.
I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain
He was looking for the place called Lee Ho Fook's (10 words)
3. Vampires, Mummies, and the Holy Ghost, Jimmy Buffett, 1994.
Vampires, Mummies and the Holy Ghost
These are the things that terrify me the most (6 words)
4. Thriller, Michael Jackson, 1982.
Darkness falls across the land
The midnight hour is close at hand
Creatures crawl in search of blood (4 words)
5. Demons, Imagine Dragons, 2012.
Don't get too close
It's dark inside (5 words)
6. The Monster, Eminem feat. Rihanna, 2013.
I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed
Get along with the voices inside of my head
You're trying to save me (4 words)
7. This is Halloween, Marilyn Manson, 1993.
I am the one hiding under your bed
Teeth ground sharp and (3 words)

8. Don’t Fear the Reaper, Blue Oyster Cult, 1976.
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain (6 words)
9. Time Warp, Rocky Horror Picture Show, 1975.
With a bit of a mind flip
You're into the time slip.
And nothing can ever be the same.
You're spaced out on sensation. (4 words)
10. Nightmare on My Street, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, 1988.
When I heard this awful voice comin from behind
It said, "You cut off 'Heavy Metal' and now you must die!"
Man, I ain't even wait to see who it was
Broke outside my drawers and screamed, (3 words)
11. Ghostbusters, Ray Parker Jr. 1984.
If there’s something strange in your neighborhood (4 words)

Spoiler
[quote="PrinceOfInsufficientLight"]So I happen to think it's completely unfair that just because the LSWE only takes place during the winter that there can't be a game themed around the wonderful time of Halloween.

Thriller, Michael Jackson

2. Crazy way he thrills me
Tell you why
Just like a lightning from the sky
He loves to kiss me till I can't see straight

3. I know you want to love her
But let me tell you brother,
She's been sleepin in the devil's bed.

Witchy Woman, Eagles

4. Feel the silky touch of my caresses
They will keep you looking so brand new
Let me cover you with velvet kisses
I'll create a look that's made for you

5. I heard somebody call your name
from underneath our willow
I saw something tucked in shame
underneath your pillow

Brilliant Disguise, Springsteen

6. There's evil in the air and there's thunder in the sky,
And a killer's on the bloodshot streets.
And down in the tunnels where the deadly are rising
Oh, I swear I saw a young boy down in the gutter
He was starting to foam in the heat.

7. With their tanks and their bombs
And their bombs and their guns

8. It coulda been me but it was you
Who went and bit off a little bit more than he could chew

9. All my friends have to ask me
Something they didn't understand
How I get all the women
In the palm of my hand
I told them...

10. And then there she was
In platform double suede
Yeah, there she was
Like disco lemonade

11. He's the hairy-handed gent who ran amuck in Kent
Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair

Ow - ooooooooooooooooo Werewolves of London, Warren Zevon

Image Bonus: So, what are you wearing to the Bored Halloween party this year? - I think a lot of people are going to end up getting arrested at the party this year. Weasel's costume made me laugh the loudest, even if (and maybe because) it took me a couple seconds to "get it," so the IBB goes on the nightstand along with the keys and cellphone...
