Lyrically Speaking - 1/23/18

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Tue Jan 23, 2018 7:37 am

Even though I initially gave up on having themed days of the week in the LSWE when it ceased to be the extravaganza it once was a few years ago, I've found that old habits tend to die hard. So... it's another Tuesday Wordplay. You know how it works by now, so why should I waste anymore virtual ink on this lame intro....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. Had a few beers getting high
Sitting watching the time go by uh-huh
It ain't no big thing

2. But did you know that when it snows
My eyes become large
And the light that you shine can't be seen?

3. Well, when I woke up, the rain was pourin' down.
There were people standing all around.
Something warm running in my eyes,
but I found my baby somehow that night.

4. They told me "Be sensible with your new love"
"Don't be fooled, thinking this is the last you'll find"
But they never stood in the dark with you, love
When you take me in your arms and drive me slowly out of my mind

5. Cinderella said to Snow White
How does love get so off course
All I wanted was a white knight
With a good heart, soft touch, fast horse

6. You can see it in my eyes
I can feel it in your touch
You don't have to say a thing
Just let me show how much
Love you, need you, yeah

7. It's that moment when you start closing in
First you're holding back then surrendering
It can start a fire, light up the sky
Such a simple thing, do you wanna try?
Are you ready to say goodbye to all these blues?

8. You can't be too flirty mama
I know how to undress me

9. 'Tho we gotta say goodbye for the summer
Darling I promise you this

10. You think maybe I need help no, I know that I'm right, alright
I'm just better off not listening to friends advice

11. Hello, can you hear me
Am I getting through to you
Hello, is it late there
There's a laughter on the line
Are you sure you're there alone

12. He'll never love you, the way that I love you
'Cause if he did, no no, he wouldn't make you cry
He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love (my love, my love)

Even though I initially gave up on having themed days of the week in the LSWE when it ceased to be the extravaganza it once was a few years ago, I've found that old habits tend to die hard. So... it's another Tuesday Wordplay. You know how it works by now, so why should I waste anymore virtual ink on this lame intro....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

No Tuesday Wordplay? Why, why, that would be like not having One Night in Bangkok! Inconceivable!!!1

1. Had a few beers getting high
Sitting watching the time go by uh-huh
It ain't no big thing

Kiss Me Deadly - Lita Ford

Really the only thing I liked from her outside of the Runaways. Remember how hot that tattoo looked when the video for this came out? Not looking so hot these days. Meanwhile,
my tattoo artist Snake up and retired on me! At least I assume so, since I went over there awhile back to talk about some work and it was a Catholic gift shop, of all things. I hope it wasn't health related as the last time (less than two years ago) I was there he swore he was going to keel over still holding a machine...

2. But did you know that when it snows
My eyes become large
And the light that you shine can't be seen?

Kiss From a Rose - Seal

3. Well, when I woke up, the rain was pourin' down.
There were people standing all around.
Something warm running in my eyes,
but I found my baby somehow that night.

Last Kiss - J Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers

Anybody answering Pearl Jam should get negative points (non-competitive, of course)

4. They told me "Be sensible with your new love"
"Don't be fooled, thinking this is the last you'll find"
But they never stood in the dark with you, love
When you take me in your arms and drive me slowly out of my mind

Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me - Harold Melvin

I guess the title of this isn't just Hold Me Thrill Me then? Okay, I'll take your word (ha!) for it. It's also not Harold Melvin, but his is the only name coming to me right now...

5. Cinderella said to Snow White
How does love get so off course
All I wanted was a white knight
With a good heart, soft touch, fast horse

This Kiss - Faith Hill

6. You can see it in my eyes
I can feel it in your touch
You don't have to say a thing
Just let me show how much
Love you, need you, yeah

I Want to Kiss You All Over - Exile

Before they went country. The leader singer looked so much less ridiculous once they did.....

7. It's that moment when you start closing in
First you're holding back then surrendering
It can start a fire, light up the sky
Such a simple thing, do you wanna try?
Are you ready to say goodbye to all these blues?

Kiss the Squirrel - Sebastian the Crab

I don't remember these lyrics in it at all, but they sound like they could be, don't they aka desperately trying to jam an Annie Bonus into this game since I won't get it for a krox. See?
It's been a while but I still know the krox rules!

8. You can't be too flirty mama
I know how to undress me

Kiss - Prince

I wasted all my good fun facts for this on your blog a few weeks ago, so just imagine that I repeated them here

9. 'Tho we gotta say goodbye for the summer
Darling I promise you this

Sealed with a Kiss - Brian Hyland

The other day IBTWYPDB was going through my head and it was all your fault because it was on the same summer compilation album that had Beach Baby on it.

10. You think maybe I need help no, I know that I'm right, alright
I'm just better off not listening to friends advice

Kiss on My List - Hall & Oates

11. Hello, can you hear me
Am I getting through to you
Hello, is it late there
There's a laughter on the line
Are you sure you're there alone

So Kiss My Ass and Call Me, Sally - Commas Make a Difference

12. He'll never love you, the way that I love you
'Cause if he did, no no, he wouldn't make you cry
He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love (my love, my love)

Kiss Him Goodbye - Steam

Too bad they weren't a real band, because that's a really cool (ha!) band name...

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains the magic word of the day in the title.

Kiss My Ass - Ted Nugent

When I saw the Nuge live, this song took about 20 minutes because Uncle Ted had a laundry list of about 4850233 names that he wanted to kiss his ass and they all got a chorus

Image Bonus: If you know the word of the day, show me a fitting image.

Think about it a minute....

SEALED WITH A KISS-Bobby Vinton

10. You think maybe I need help no, I know that I'm right, alright
I'm just better off not listening to friends advice

KISS AND SAY GOODBYE-The Manhattans

11. Hello, can you hear me
Am I getting through to you
Hello, is it late there
There's a laughter on the line
Are you sure you're there alone

12. He'll never love you, the way that I love you
'Cause if he did, no no, he wouldn't make you cry
He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love (my love, my love)

KISS HIM GOODBYE-The Nylons

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains the magic word of the day in the title.

KISS THE BRIDE-Elton John

Image Bonus: If you know the word of the day, show me a fitting image.

Thankfully, this isn't a board breaker like my last picture:

I never realized there were so many great songs with such titles. I really had a hard time picking just one. Because of the artist and the video, I'm going with:
Kiss That Frog - Peter Gabriel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4Ah2dxTcWw

Honorable Mentions:
Kiss This Thing Goodbye - Del Amitri

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ify_f6XoqMU

Kiss Me - Sixpence None The Richer

Kiss Me - Stephen "Tin Tin" Duffy

JJC Points:

Weasel gets 2 JJC points for his two bonus images both being better than the official one (The Mike Tyson one might have won, man!)

Vandal gets a JJC point for the stupidest kissing picture I've ever seen...

frank gets 2 JJC points for hot and steamy intimacy Disney style...

Beebs gets 3 JJC points for reminding me of Flo from "Alice", which would have been an instant IBB had anyone thought of it...

BiT gets 3 JJC points for creative thinking with little to work from...

TBone gets 2 JJC points for the Human Torch and kissy faced Don Knotts...

elwood gets 2 JJC points for 2020 vision...

mrk gets a supermax for the joys of emo...

Hottie gets a JJC point for Kroxing the Cher cover of The Shoop Shoop song that's a Mecca earworm...

Earl gets 3 JJC points for Snake finding religion, a wholesome Krox, and for making me think so hard on the Image Bonus that I wound up forgetting to put any JJC points down for her in the notebook. Yes, I did get it... I don't always forget fun facts, just most of the time...

Anon gets 2 JJC points for nipples and only answering with the superior Tom Jones version...

Search gets 2 JJC points for also having good taste (As should the President of Good Taste), and for the Brokeback version of Lady & the Tramp...
