Lyrically Speaking - 1/24/18

#1 Post by SolarEclipse » Wed Jan 24, 2018 7:55 am

Greetings to all of my fans out there on Planet Earth! It's going to be another year and a half before I decide to make my next grand appearance for all of you gawkers out there (Hands Across the Southern Tip of South America, anyone?), so I've got nothing better to do right now than host a Wacky Wednesday LSWE game for LB... the same moron who couldn't even be assed to drive 10 miles back in August to see me in beautiful, high def totality. You know, I think just to tweak him a little more, I'm gonna schedule another total eclipse a few years down the road that just misses him as well. Anyway, today's game is all about ME, of course, and you won't need any special glasses or gadgets to view today's game unless you just want to look stupid while you're playing. Speaking of stupid, I guess it's time for me to put as little effort as possible into getting ready for my pissy ass partial appearance in a couple weeks in that frozen hellhole Antarctica. Anyone know where I can get a manager who doesn't book me for so many lame venues in the polar regions?

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're livin' in a powder keg and givin' off sparks

2. This whole world is out there just trying to score
I've seen enough I don't want to see any more

3. From out of the shadows she walks like a dream
Makes me feel crazy, makes me feel so mean

4. And if I ever lose my eyes, if my colors all run dry,
Yes if I ever lose my eyes, Oh if I won't have to cry no more.

5. I was frying on the bench slide in the park across the street
L-a-t-e-r that week
My sticky paws were in to making straws out of big fat slurpy treats
An incredible eight foot heap

6. I spied a little thing
And I followed her all night
In her funky fine Levis
And her sweater's kinda tight

7. With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin' kinda older
I tripped the merry-go-round

8. I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee

9. In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep
Heaven send Hell away
No one sings like you anymore

10. And this house just ain't no home
Any time she goes away

11. I don't want to spend the rest of my life
Looking at the barrel of an armalite
I don't want to spend the rest of my days
Keeping out of trouble like the soldiers say

12. And all you create
And all you destroy
And all that you do
And all that you say

L-a-t-e-r that week
My sticky paws were in to making straws out of big fat slurpy treats
An incredible eight foot heap

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

I'm late for this, so no time for extraneous comment and deep thoughts today....

1. I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're livin' in a powder keg and givin' off sparks

Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler

Yeah, I knew this wasn't going to make it to kroxville, but did you have to dash the hopes right off the bat? I've got one more in me, let's see how far it goes. Then again, I can't even imagine 10 songs about the eclipse, so here we gooooo...

Meanwhile, am I the only one who prefers 70s Bonnie and It's a Heartache? And I never said Burning for You wasn't the best BOC song, or my favourite. Read for comprehension!!!!11

2. This whole world is out there just trying to score
I've seen enough I don't want to see any more

Cover Me - Bruce Springsteen

Okay, I see it's a little more loosely interpreted. I might be able to pull out a krox yet, although I don't know if I'm prepared to think that hard at this hour of the morning..... Emergency appointment with the vascular surgeon yesterday for my mom, surgery tomorrow at ass o'clock...

3. From out of the shadows she walks like a dream
Makes me feel crazy, makes me feel so mean

On the Dark Side - John Cafferty

Had MTV Classic on the other day and heard St. Elmo's Fire for the first time in forever. Oh,
remember when I said I just hear Killer Queen all the time because I play it all the time? I was in the car for 10 minutes yesterday and what did I hear? Yep. It was the Doubleshot Lunch Hour and they backed up BoRhap with it. They never do that!

4. And if I ever lose my eyes, if my colors all run dry,
Yes if I ever lose my eyes, Oh if I won't have to cry no more.

Moobshadow - Cat Stevens

My nails are way too long right now and this typo was too funny to fix. Now all of these appropriate lyrics are running through my head....ha!

5. I was frying on the bench slide in the park across the street
L-a-t-e-r that week
My sticky paws were in to making straws out of big fat slurpy treats
An incredible eight foot heap

Steal My Sunshine - LEN

6. I spied a little thing
And I followed her all night
In her funky fine Levis
And her sweater's kinda tight

Cheap Sunglasses - ZZ Top

I also saw Legs during my MTVC foray.....

7. With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin' kinda older
I tripped the merry-go-round

Blinded by the Light - Manfred Mann

Earl gets called little Early Pearly a lot, too...

8. I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee

You're So Vain - Carly Simon

Yup, I knew it wouldn't last til the end....

9. In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep
Heaven send Hell away
No one sings like you anymore

Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden

I hope. I get all those 90s PNW bands mixed up

10. And this house just ain't no home
Any time she goes away

Ain't No Sunshine - Bill Withers

11. I don't want to spend the rest of my life
Looking at the barrel of an armalite
I don't want to spend the rest of my days
Keeping out of trouble like the soldiers say

Dammit! When I made it past #9 I thought maybe, just maybe, this might be my day....

12. And all you create
And all you destroy
And all that you do
And all that you say

Eclipse - Pink Floyd

And why did I not think of the simplest one of all? I guess because I never think of it by the actual title, just "Dark Side of the Moon" It is actually Eclipse, right? Gotta be...

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains some reference to a solar eclipse.

Moonage Daydream - David Bowie

Can't wait to see if Hottie kroxed this as well. If so, we should get Twinsies JJCP

So much for those no comment and thoughts, huh? I know it's annoying, but I just can't help myself....

"And if I ever lose my eyes....."

Although I don't play, I still check out the game every now and then. A local radio station used to give away albums if you knew a line from a song they gave out once a day. I knew this one cold, and because I got it on the first clue, I won five albums (the more clues they gave won you less albums). One I really liked was the first Eagles album. Two others that I remember were "Return Of The Moonglow's" and "Liza With A 'Z'". Hey, they were free......

Smartassing. My previous images barely registered with you, so I thought I'd go back to insulting you to get your attention.

Dude, how long have you known me? No matter what the question is, the answer is always the same: smartassery.

Sure, I could have found some picture of Halley's Comet, but where's the fun in that?
