Lyrically Speaking - 2/8/18

It's been a bit of a rough week pointwise for some players.... and I've got some bad news for you. I don't think it will get much better today. Unless you prove me wrong, as you usually do. I think the theme is easy.... but getting enough songs to see it may pose a challenge for some of you....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the theme...

1. What in the world can make a brown-eyed girl turn blue.
When everything I'll ever do I'll do for you

2. I've packed my bags.
Cleaned the floor.
Watch me walking, walking out the door.

3. We got the rhythm tonight
All the rest know we’re the best
Our shadows crash in the light
Twistin’, turnin’, we keep burnin’

4. But there's just one thing
You see we never ever do nothing
Nice and easy
We always do it nice and rough

5. Don't wanna hear about it
Every single ones got a story to tell
Everyone knows about it
From the Queen of England to the hounds of hell

6. When those girls start hangin' around, talkin' me down
Hear with your heart and ya won't hear a sound

7. I've learned to feel what I cannot see
But with you I lose that vision
I don't know how to dream your dream
So I'm all caught up in superstition
I want to reach out and pull you to me
Who says I should let a wild one go free

8. Back on the train, I ask why did I come again?
Can I confess, I've been hanging round your old address?
And the years have proved
to offer, nothing since you've moved
You're long gone, but I can't move on

9. They call me 'quiet'
But I'm a riot
Mary-Jo-Lisa
Always the same

10. Baby make your mind up give me what you got
Fix me with your lovin' shut the door and turn the lock
Hey go get the doctor, doctor came too late
Another night I feel alright my love for you can't wait

11. I never had no money, I bought at the second store
The way this old town laughs at me
I just can't take it no more
I can't stay, I'm gonna be a lady some day

12. These building tops
They connect the whole block
Ohhhhh
You threw the keys down
And I found my way up
Ohhhhh
Theme?
It can't be a coincidence that all four of the artists I recognized were couples who split up. (It doesn't seem to matter when they split up, since Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart formed Eurythmics long after they split.)
Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.
I can't name any of the records that George Jones and Tammy Wynette did together. So, even though they aren't a duo, I'll go with a group that included at least two couples that split up:

Gypsy/Fleetwood Mac

I knew the theme was going to be trouble when I saw that you and Vandal both answered the same four songs and came to the same conclusion.
Spoiler
I admit I was unaware Dave and Annie were even an item, let alone split up. The answer I was going for is a bit simpler, yet also somewhat complex and admittedly a bit buggy. I'll get into that tomorrow when I grade this mess....

Thanks so much for using a lyric with the word rhythm in it, so I didn't have to do my usual 4 or 5 permutations until I got it spelled correctly

Who says I should let a wild one go free

8. Back on the train, I ask why did I come again?
Can I confess, I've been hanging round your old address?
And the years have proved
to offer, nothing since you've moved
You're long gone, but I can't move on

9. They call me 'quiet'
But I'm a riot
Mary-Jo-Lisa
Always the same

That's Not My Name - Ting Tings

Baby Don't Go - Sonny & Cher

12. These building tops
They connect the whole block
Ohhhhh
You threw the keys down
And I found my way up
Ohhhhh

Theme?

[bThere were several stumpers for me today, but can the theme be as simple as groups that consist solely of one man and one woman? I'm going with that as opposed to husband and wife since I don't think Peaches and Herb or Annie and Dave were married to each other.

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.

Heaven's Just a Sin Away - The Kendalls

Tougher than I thought, there's lots of duets that aren't actual groups, especially since I needed one of the image as well....

Image Bonus: If you know the theme, show me a fitting image.

I think this is the theme: musical groups that have just 1 man & 1 woman.

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.

BABY I LOVE YOUR WAY/FREE BIRD (FREE BABY)-Will To Power

Image Bonus: If you know the theme, show me a fitting image.

I'm guessing this group did not take off:

1. What in the world can make a brown-eyed girl turn blue.
When everything I'll ever do I'll do for you
The Look - Roxette

2. I've packed my bags.
Cleaned the floor.
Watch me walking, walking out the door.
Would I Lie To You - Eurythmics

3. We got the rhythm tonight
All the rest know we’re the best
Our shadows crash in the light
Twistin’, turnin’, we keep burnin’
Shake Your Groove Thing - Peaches & Herb

4. But there's just one thing
You see we never ever do nothing
Nice and easy
We always do it nice and rough
Proud Mary - Ike & Tina Turner (CCR would not have counted for this game since the artists were the key and only Tina used this lyric...)

5. Don't wanna hear about it
Every single ones got a story to tell
Everyone knows about it
From the Queen of England to the hounds of hell
Seven Nation Army - White Stripes (Figures I'd use this song the game before the slot machine theme hit me...)

6. When those girls start hangin' around, talkin' me down
Hear with your heart and ya won't hear a sound
Love Will Keep Us Together - Captain & Tenille (My birth #1 song... which regular LSWE players should know by now...)

7. I've learned to feel what I cannot see
But with you I lose that vision
I don't know how to dream your dream
So I'm all caught up in superstition
I want to reach out and pull you to me
Who says I should let a wild one go free
Waiting For A Star To Fall - Boy Meets Girl (I always think of the artist as Boy Meets World for some reason and have to correct it at the last minute...)

8. Back on the train, I ask why did I come again?
Can I confess, I've been hanging round your old address?
And the years have proved
to offer, nothing since you've moved
You're long gone, but I can't move on
Missing - Everything But The Girl

9. They call me 'quiet'
But I'm a riot
Mary-Jo-Lisa
Always the same
That's Not My Name - Ting Tings (Back in 2008, Mecca TV, constantly in the background at work due to my proximity to Electronics back then, was running a series on up and coming artists... and that is the one and only place I'd ever heard of the Ting Tings. They were a two hit wonder at the time, and..... well, they still are. Another Mecca up and coming artist from the time, Lady Gaga, managed slightly better than they did....)

10. Baby make your mind up give me what you got
Fix me with your lovin' shut the door and turn the lock
Hey go get the doctor, doctor came too late
Another night I feel alright my love for you can't wait
Don't Go - Yaz ("Situation" is better known in the US, but this is the one I love...)

11. I never had no money, I bought at the second store
The way this old town laughs at me
I just can't take it no more
I can't stay, I'm gonna be a lady some day
Baby Don't Go - Sonny & Cher (Another case of me putting songs back to back on purpose...)

12. These building tops
They connect the whole block
Ohhhhh
You threw the keys down
And I found my way up
Ohhhhh
It's Alright - Matt & Kim (A Mecca earworm I love... and a rare M/F duo where the man is the primary lead singer.)

Theme? - All of the artists are regularly performing male/female DUOS... as opposed to a man and a woman who only got together out of circumstance to record a song together. I accepted any theme answer that mentioned male/female duos/duets, however.....

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game. - ...your Krox had to be a song from an actual M/F DUO to earn the two points... not just a random duet.

Image Bonus: If you know the theme, show me a fitting image. - Any image depicting or referring to a man and a woman did get IB credit. I thought it would be hard to top elwood's lovely image of Kenny and Dolly, but Esto's Bruce and Caitlyn won the day in the end. Another IBB for Esto... this contest is rigged, I tell ya....

JJC Points:

BiT gets 2 JJC points and should be added to the Harvey List...

Beebs won her supermax on the very first joke answer. That was funny...

Weasel gets a JJC point, and IB credit, because of June Foray...

TBone got a supermax for his lovely joke duos (Carly Simon & Garfunkel was great!)...

Krox gets a JJC point for our favorite dentist...

elwood gets 3 JJC points for the perfect photo and caption...

Earl gets a JJC point since I can't believe I didn't think of Timbuk3 for this game...

Esto gets 3 JJC points for a two in one...

Search gets 2 JJC points because even though his image didn't count, it still struck me as funny...
