Life got in the way of this week's musical reveals. Yeah, it was business as usual the minute that I got back from Atlanta. Anyway, we are now at the halfway point of the early 1970s section of my list... or at least we will be at the end of this post. From Hollywood... here come the newlyweds!

#50. Turn Back the Hands of Time, Tyrone Davis (1970)

#49. Groove Me, King Floyd (1970)

#48. Sweet Seasons, Carole King (1972)

Second appearance by Carole.

#47. Danny's Song, Loggins & Messina (1971)

Anne Murray made this B-side a Top 10 hit one year later, but I prefer the original.

#46. You Turn Me On, I'm a Radio, Joni Mitchell (1972)

#45. Respect Yourself, the Staple Singers (1971)

#44. Ball of Confusion (That's What the World Is Today), the Temptations (1970)

Second trip to the Top 500 for the Temptations--a bittersweet entry, as Dennis Edwards just passed away last week.

#43. Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Bob Dylan (1973)

If you're looking for a Nobel Prize winner on my list, look no further!

#42. Theme from "The Rockford Files", Mike Post (1974)

Another instrumental TV theme makes my list.

#41. Gypsy Woman, Brian Hyland (1970)

The Impressions had a Top 20 hit with this song in 1961. But when Brian Hyland and producer Del Shannon got their hands on this song, it was pure magic.

We begin counting down the Top 40 of the early 1970s next week!
