"Dunkirk" VS "The Lighthorsemen"

#1 Post by Spock » Sat Mar 17, 2018 1:16 pm

My visceral hatred for "Dunkirk" is no secret here.

When I rewatched the movie I found myself providing commentary such as: "Ok, what is the next scene going to show? Don't tell me-Let me guess-maybe we will go with 'War is Hell.' Ok, try and surprise me next time-Nope, I see we are going with 'War is Hell' again"-Anyway, etc etc.

The absolute worst scene that ignited my visceral hatred is the boat on the beach scene as the "soldiers" approached the boat and someone says "The enemy could be right over there" as they pointed at some dunes. Then they all climb in the boat without even posting a sentry, WTF??????.

Really? They wouldn't have sent a couple of guys to at least peek over the dunes and maybe posted a sentry or 2 there.

Watch "The Lighthorsemen" for a truer view of war. Yeah, you can easily trash me for "Never being in combat"-but I don't GAS. I have read a tremendous number of war memoirs and "The Lighthorsemen" is far truer to actual war than that POS "Dunkirk."
