Alison Sandler returning contestant
Hackensack, NJ

Alison is going for $10,000 and has her +1 lifeline available.

$10,000: "He dreamed about being...a painter of apples. He dreamed about being a painter of hats" is a line from a children's book about what artist?
A - Salvador Dali
B - Rene Magritte
C - Pablo Picasso
D - Edvard Munch

Alison thinks that Magritte had all those apple paintings - it isn't Munch, he painted that scary painting. Picasso was a dreamer. She said her +1 wouldn't mind being left on the table. She goes with her instinct.
[Reveal] Spoiler:
Answer: B (Rene Magritte)

$20,000: Briefly called New Connecticut, in 1777 which New England state declared its independence from both Great Britain and New York?
A - Maine
B - Vermont
C - Rhode Island
D - Massachusetts

Alison's brother-in-law is from Connecticut so she's calling on Joe. He doesn't know the answer for sure but believes he can rule a couple out. Vermont borders New York; Massachusetts had already declared its independence and Rhode Island has been around for a long time. Maine used to be part of Massachusetts. Alison says there aren't any other options, and Chris reminds her she could walk away. Joe then changes his mind and says Maine. Alison wants to go with his first answer.
[Reveal] Spoiler:
Answer: B (Vermont)

commercial break

When Alison was 13, her parents sent her to Hong Kong on her own and she's been a risk-taker ever since.

$30,000: According to Forbes, in 2016 what comedian netted a whopping $87.5 million, dethroning Jerry Seinfeld as the world's top-earning comic?
A - Kevin Hart
B - Dave Chappelle
C - Amy Schumer
D - Louis C.K.

Alison thinks she knows this. She eliminates Dave Chappelle because he walked away for a while, and Amy Schumer is doing well but not that well. Louis C.K. sells his own tickets, and Kevin Hart does arena shows and a lot of movies.
[Reveal] Spoiler:
Answer: A (Kevin Hart)

$50,000: Thanks to one of his signature traits, which of the following is one of the most famous sialoquent characters in history?
A - Yoda
B - Daffy Duck
C - Charlie Chaplin
D - Forrest Gump

Alison says it has something to do with language. She toys with several different options, focusing on either sibilance or silence. She told herself that she should trust her gut, and decides to go for it. If she's wrong, she's going to go to the buffet.
[Reveal] Spoiler:
Answer: D (Daffy Duck)

commercial break

Alison at first said that her goal was $5,000, but during the break she said it really was $50,000. She'd like to take her husband and children on trips - they love to travel like she does.

$100,000: The saying "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong" (a.k.a "Murphy's Law") is said to be named for Edward A. Murphy, who primarily made his living as what?
A - heart surgeon
B - fast food restaurant manager
C - film director & producer
D - aerospace engineer

Alison hopes a heart surgeon or an aerospace engineer wouldn't say this, but a film director could just do another take, so that's her final answer.
[Reveal] Spoiler:
Answer: D (aerospace engineer)

MILLIONAIRE "QUESTION OF THE DAY": The animal featured in which of these minor league baseball team nicknames is an example of an arthropod?
A - El Paso Chihuahuas
B - Richmond Flying Squirrels
C - Myrtle Beach Pelicans
D - Charlotte Stone Crabs
[Reveal] Spoiler:
Answer: D (Charlotte Stone Crabs)

30K: Dunno. Hart was my guess, but a guess. ATA & probably +1

50K: +1 if still have. I was going for Yoda, & might have pulled switch &, lost.

Alison has a high opinion of aerospace engineers, lumping them with heart surgeons. I know that aerospace engineers think this way because if they anticipate problems, they can prepare for them.

If I have lifelines, I throw them at this question, starting with ATA.
