Fireball's Fantastic 500 -- Late 1970s, Part II

#1 Post by Pastor Fireball » Fri Mar 23, 2018 2:58 pm

With yet another snowstorm set to slam Cincinnati tomorrow morning, I won't be doing much of anything this weekend. It seems as good a time as any to kick back and listen to some tunes. Continuing my look into the latter half of the 1970s, we have another interesting mix of pop, rock, R&B, and country within a span of just ten songs. No time to talk. Let's play!

#70. We've Got Tonight, Bob Seger (1978)

Sometimes intentionally misspelled as "Tonite", but it doesn't detract from how beautiful the song is.

#69. Times of Your Life, Paul Anka (1976)

This top ten hit about nostalgia was written to peddle Kodak products.

#68. Goodbye Girl, David Gates (1977)

This was the theme song to the Neil Simon film that won Richard Dreyfuss his only Oscar. The lead singer of Bread wrote and recorded this hit.

#67. Before My Heart Finds Out, Gene Cotton (1978)

Gene Cotton... now there's a name I'll bet you haven't heard in years!

#66. She Did It, Eric Carmen (1976)

#65. Werewolves of London, Warren Zevon (1978)

The signature song and the only Top 40 hit for the much-beloved and much-missed rock legend.

#64. Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue, Crystal Gayle (1977)

Second appearance by Loretta Lynn's long-locked sister.

#63. It's Over, Boz Scaggs (1976)

The first Top 40 hit (and first appearance on my list) for Steve Miller's old buddy.

#62. Vienna, Billy Joel (1977)

One of the many familiar tunes from Billy's popular The Stranger album.

#61. Misty Blue, Dorothy Moore (1976)

That's now 25% of this chapter done. Another musical trip starts here in exactly 168 hours.
"[Drumpf's] name alone creates division and anger, whose words inspire dissension and hatred, and can't possibly 'Make America Great Again.'" --Kobe Bryant (1978-2020)

"In times of crisis, the wise build bridges. The foolish build barriers." --Chadwick Boseman (1976-2020)
