This would have been my idea of a "dream question." When Adventure Boy's girlfriend from college joined the Peace Corps, I searched the world to find a Guarani dictionary for her. I never did find a Guarani-English dictionary, but I did find a Guarani-Castillian version and, fortunately, she already was fluent in Spanish.

It's Wilson, not Taft. Which I guessed but I have no idea why.

$25K: No clue. Better PAF.

$50K: Got this one immediately. The "gua" in both the currency and the country was pretty much the giveaway.

$50K #2: Good thing I never would've seen this one. I said Lord of the Isles.

$100K: It's definitely not Taft. I've seen his grave at Arlington Cemetery. It ain't Madison, either. He's buried in Virginia somewhere. I'm leaning toward Van Buren, but I'll take the 50:50 and see if it stays or not. If Van Buren is still there, I'm gone with $25K. If Van Buren is gone, I'll lock in with Wilson and go for $250K with STQ left.

My first thought was B because Canis Major (Sirius) is only about 10 light-years away. But that wouldn't be enough to go on, so it's time for a lifeline. I've already used ATA (and it probably wouldn't be of much use here) so it's time to PAF.

Again, no idea so the 50/50 won't help, so STQ.

This one I know.

I still have my 50/50 and would use it, but would probably end up walking away because I wouldn't have much confidence in the answer. My thoughts were either A or B.

Ouch, an astronomy question that I haven't a clue on. Pray that my PAF comes through on Google.

Ouch again. NFC. STQ along with the player.

No problem here, since I know Prince Philip is the Duke of Edinburgh, not Charles. The full lists of official titles for the Queen and for Charles are lengthy.

This might have been a crash and burn for me, if I didn't read the question properly. Could have jumped at Taft, knowing he's in Arlington National Cemetary. Had I really been reading and seen the opening part of the Q, likely I would have been walking at this point.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Dang, I'd have to burn the PAF on an astronomy question. :(

The question writers increased the difficulty level by using the constellation name when that is not part of the name of the star, Gliese 581, that this planet orbits.

I'm not sure if the star name would have helped, either, since there have been a number of exoplanet reports in recent years.

This was easier. The Duke of Edinburgh is his father, Prince Philip.

I dismissed Van Buren and Madison, figuring they had been buried elsewhere long before the cathedral had been completed. Leaning towards Wilson without any firm justification for doing so.

Surprisingly I didn't know the 25K Q which is in a subject I think of as a strength but did know the next 3 although not 100% confident enough to know if I would have gone for them in the hot seat on any of them.

How about that last paragraph?

Spoiler
EAVESDROPPING on two women talking about adopting an Ethiopian baby: "You're a regular Angelina Jolie."

"I'd so do Brad Pitt."

"I'd do Angelina Jolie."
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

I am guessing that the two women were not talking about adopting a baby together.
