Labeling this so as not to get anyone else mad at me.
In response to those steel tariffs that helped the Republicans almost win a House seat in Pennsylvania in a district Trump carried by 19 points, the Chinese government has imposed tariffs of up to 25% on various food items, including frozen pork (China is a big importer of US pork) and various fruits, nuts, and wine. I'm sure that those of Spock's neighbors who are involved in farming of those affected items (I'm not sure if he raises any pigs himself, but I don't think so) are excited to hear about how Trump is making life great again for them.

OTOH Hawaiians revere Kamehameha I, a murderous tyrant who invaded Maui with western weapons of war.
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
