In marginally related news, Stormy Daniels will be appearing Sunday night at the Pink Pony, a gentleman's entertainment club in the Atlanta suburb of Brookhaven. There will be plenty of additional security on hand for her "performance." I have a feeling the cover charge for this event would be rather prohibitive for me, and I doubt they will have any discount coupons available.

Maybe Jon Ossoff will be there.

Her Philadelphia appearance was nothing like that.

It looks like I didn't miss much. Stormy Daniels cancelled her performance two days before the show due to what Michael Avenatti called a "family issue." That may have to do with the fact that her husband had just filed for divorce and was seeking a restraining order on her. His grounds: adultery (since the couple married in 2015, her fling with Donald Trump wouldn't be relevant).

Accusing a porn star of committing adultery? What is this world coming to?
Will being divorced hurt her with democrat voters when she runs for office?

By the way, it appears that, contrary to police reports that Ms. Daniels was arrested because she was caught up in a pre-existing sting operation, she was actually targeted days in advance of her appearance. It's not much of a leap to assume that the reasons she was targeted were political.

And this, by the way, is what actual bias looks like. It's not the political preferences of the investigating officers. It's when they do something differently because of those preferences. --Bob

According to the Wall Street Journal, the CFO of the Trump Organization, Michael Weisselberg, has been subpoenaed by a New York federal grand jury. And, before anyone starts hollering about Mueller overreach, this is not Mueller's investigators, but the regular prosecutors who would look into such things as money laundering and fraud.

Was Giuliani talking about Cohen or Donny?

According to Lanny Davis, Cohen is willing to testify to that effect under oath. That, right there, is evidence of collusion. --Bob

I can't tell if that's a serious question. Here's the whole interview:

You can listen to Giuliani ripping into Cohen for as long as you like.

From what I've been able to gather from the stories, Cohen does not have corroboration of his statement that Trump knew about the meeting, and his statement, by itself, is problematic since he has some considerable credibility problems. Of course, there's no telling what other corroboration Mueller may already have, and Cohen's testimony might just be the icing on the cake.

There's also a question of who leaked this. Cohen denies it (again there's a problem with credibility here) and it's hard to believe this coming from either Trump people, if they know about what's been going on between Cohen's attorneys and Mueller, or from the Mueller investigation.

One thing that is going to change and very publicly in the next few days is the Manafort trial. This will be the public's first chance to see the type of prosecutor Mueller is, and if he puts on a really tight case against Manafort, that will bolster his credibility when the indictments do start coming down, and they will.

And, by the way, it's Ben Affleck in The Accountant, not Ben Stiller (although that might have made for an interesting movie of its own).

It does occur to me that if you have a client like Donny, it makes sense to record your interactions with him. Otherwise it's far too likely you'll have an issue in the future when he claims you didn't give him advice that you did, in fact, give him. --Bob

Back then Giuliani called Cohen an honest honorable lawyer. That's as real as a Martian or a unicorn.

If you always bet that Giuliani, Cohen, Avenatti etc. are lying, you'll win the bet most of the time.

I haven't yet seen evidence that Avenatti has said anything that turned out not to be true. And I certainly think of myself as both honest and honorable. There are many of us. --Bob
