Plenty of Good Seats Available

It's games like this that warm Bob Uecker's heart.

A crowd reported at 974 fans (although the "official" attendance was over 10,000) attended Monday's Chicago White Sox game against Tampa Bay. It's not even Income Tax Day and apparently the Chisox fans are waiting until next year already.

I would imagine a lot of people had no idea when they bought baseball tickets that Spring in the Midwest wasn't going to start until today...

I also wish baseball would go back to reporting actual attendance because I love seeing miniscule numbers like that. Even shitty teams have enough of a season ticket holder base that will assure them at least five figure attendance to the games nobody wants to actually be at...

Last night, the Florida Marlins drew fewer people for their game against the Mets (6,150) than their AA affiliate, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (6,960). Attendance for the three-game series against the Mets totaled 19,669. The Marlins are averaging 12,000 fans a game, but that includes a 34+ thousand crowd opening day. To make matters worse, their three home series have been against the Cubs, Red Sox, and Mets, all three good draws.

I at least give Jacksonville some credit for coming up with a great name for their team.

Wasn't Monday's Sox game the same day that the Cubs game was snowed out?

That explains why it sounded like there were more Mets fans than Marlins fans at the ballpark. It’s too bad. They missed a good game with a happy ending. —Bob

Gametime temperature was 35...

The only game I ever attended at Wrigley Field had a similar gametime temp, and that was in the middle of May....
