#1 Post by BBTranscriptTeam » Mon Apr 30, 2018 12:37 pm

Nicholas Berube
Cambridge, MA

Nicholas made it to the $5,000 level on the previous show. He has all his lifelines.

$7000: Which letter can represent the nutrient compound ascorbic acid, the legal ownership status of intellectual property, or the speed of light?
A - A
B - B
C - C
D - D

Nicholas is confident that
Spoiler
ascorbic acid is vitamin C
.
Spoiler
Answer: C (C)

$10,000: According to British GQ, the "spread," the "neck," the "leaf," and the "strap" all make up the anatomy of what?
A - bow tie
B - riding boot
C - pocket square
D - suspenders

Nicholas knows about suspenders and riding boots and thinks
Spoiler
there are too many terms to be applied to a pocket square
. He decides to ask the audience.
Spoiler
Ask the Audience results:
A - 75%
B - 12%
C - 2%
D - 11%

He isn't going to go against the audience.
Spoiler
Answer: A (bow tie)

A - 34
B - 36
C - 38
D - 40

Nixon was president in 1971
.
Spoiler

commercial break

Nicholas was inspired to be on the show by his little brother Jamie, who has Downs syndrome and is very good at memorizing lists.

$30,000: An infamous spot in music history, singer/songwriter Harry Nilsson's apartment at 9 Curzon Place in London was the site of whose deaths, 4 years apart?
A - "Mama" Cass Elliot & Keith Moon
B - Janis Joplin & Sid Vicious
C - Sam Cooke & Jim Morrison
D - Jimi Hendrix & Elvis Presley

Nicholas says that
Spoiler
Sam Cooke died in a motel in the South and Sid Vicious died in New York
. He's leaning toward
Spoiler
A because Keith Moon died in the UK
. He knows his +1 would know this so he calls on his dad Michael. Michael says that
Spoiler
Elvins died in 1977, more than 4 years after Hendrix, and Sid Vicious died in the Chelsea Hotel in 1978, too many years removed from Janis Joplin. Sam Cooke was killed in a motel
. That only leaves one choice.
Spoiler
Answer: A ("Mama" Cass Elliot & Keith Moon)

commercial break

$50,000: While each of these cities' clocks are set several hours ahead of NYC, during Standard Time, which is exactly 12 hours ahead of the Big Apple?
A - Jerusalem
B - Bangkok
C - Moscow
D - Sydney

Nicholas says
Spoiler
he's been to Israel for a friend's wedding and Jerusalem isn't 12 hours ahead; and Moscow isn't that much farther east
. That leaves
Spoiler
B & D
and he hopes the 50:50 doesn't leave those two.
Spoiler
"50:50 results": B & D

Nicholas has thought about this situation; he's a big geography nerd so he's going to attempt to work it out. He knows the time zones don't exactly link up with lines of longitude. Sydney is on the eastern side of Australia and a fair distance in latitude from Bangkok. This is a coin flip; he wants to gamble but he's not going to do it. $5000 more than pays for his trip to Las Vegas, but he opts to walk away.
Spoiler
Answer: B (Bangkok)

commercial break

MILLIONAIRE "QUESTION OF THE DAY": Because it contains the same toxic substance as poison ivy, merely touching which fruit's skin can leave you with an itchy rash?
A - guava
B - mango
C - kiwi
D - papaya
Spoiler
Answer: B (mango)

I think it means that they included the sitting President. --Bob
