I remember reading several years ago, that white kids tended to be more drawn to the combat roles for adventure and that minority kids tended to choose the non-combat roles as a way of improving their life-ie for education and so forth.

Spock, you are 100% correct, and I know that. I use this bored as an outlet. In real life, I am pretty much apolitical. I don't express anything remotely political on Facebook, except that I like Convention of the States, but I never comment. I try to stay out of political discussions, especially here in Washington, where there are some pretty far out people and ideas.

A few weeks ago I accidentally hit the like button on some stupid thing from some conservative site, and I was immediately responded harshly to by some friends, some family and some people I never heard of before. Can you imagine what would happen if I said on facebook some of the things I say here?

I don't hate SSS or Bob#s. But to me, they represent some of the people and ideas that I really object to. I have a lesser filter here than I do in real life. I would never act this way to someone in person, and I apologize to them for that. But 2 things are real to me:

1. This bored, as I said is an outlet. And I have assumed the liberals on this bored are using it the same way. That said, when Bob#s threatened to sue me, I really didn't know if he was serious or not. It's one thing to have a heated argument here, but to threaten to take it off the bored into real life is stepping over a line. I took time off to think about it and decided if he wanted to be that petty, he could go right ahead.
2. SSS accusing me of explicit or implicit racism. That is offensive to me and I will not have someone impugn my character like that either in real life or here.

I was just curious. You see me, I don't know what I do unconsciously unless someone points it out to me. But perhaps you have some super duper right wing powers to engage in out-of-body experiences so you can see just what you're doing at all times, even though you don't know you're doing it. That really doesn't change the dynamic of the original photo at all. Some of these women might well be married to people of color. Just as women of color might well be married to white armed services personnel. The question is which women were selected for a photo op with the First Lady of the United States, not what races their husbands might be.

In this case, I already acknowledged that I was working off incorrect information regarding the original photograph, so this particular group of women in the photo wasn't chosen by Melania, Ivanka, or anyone at the White House, and the event wasn't a White House or government event.

Once again, given the Hobson's choice between Trump and a person who hates Trump so much they would write an article like that, I would have to take Trump. And people like whoever wrote that article and you validate we made the best choice last November given what we had to choose from.
