Compendium, up to May 25: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=55782

OK, so those 2 hours ended up more like 4 hours. Javon also wanted to go to Main Event after those big burgers at Red Robin, and I had no issue spending some money at the arcade because it's directly across the street from the restaurant. Now let's see what's on tonight's musical menu.

#60. Think About Me, Fleetwood Mac (1980)

One of many hits from the group's experimental double album Tusk.

#59. The Message, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five (1982)

Here is the first appearance of rap music on my Top 500... and it obviously won't be the last.

#58. Almost Paradise, Mike Reno & Ann Wilson (1984)

One of several hits off of the Footloose soundtrack.

#57. Elvira, the Oak Ridge Boys (1981)

Oom-pah-pah oom-pah-pah maw maw... they don't write 'em like that any more! That's an unintentionally literal statement because Dallas Frazier, who wrote and first recorded this song back in 1966, eventually quit the business to become a preacher man--though it's unclear if he became the preacher man whom the boys tried to find in order to marry Elvira.

#56. That's All, Genesis (1983)

First appearance of our old buddy Phil C*****s.

#55. Heartlight, Neil Diamond (1982)

You really can't think of one of America's most beloved films, E.T.: The Extraterrestrial, without thinking of this tune.

#54. This Is the Life, "Weird Al" Yankovic (1984)

The master of the musical parody goes ragtime with this fun ditty that served as the theme to the gangster parody Johnny Dangerously.

#53. We're in This Love Together, Al Jarreau (1981)

There's always room on my list for another jazz legend, and 1981 was certainly a big year for jazz. Lee Ritenour had his biggest pop hit early that year with "Is It You", featured last week at #63. Later that year, the late great Al Jarreau crooned his biggest hit.

#52. Hard to Say I'm Sorry, Chicago (1982)

The second of their three #1 hits, and the only one that will be on my list.

#51. When You Close Your Eyes, Night Ranger (1984)

Yes, these are the same guys who did "Sister Christian". They most certainly did have other hits, and nearly all of them are better than "Sister Christian".

The next ten will be presented on Wednesday, the day before vacation.
