Sportsball 6-27-18

#1 Post by elwoodblues » Wed Jun 27, 2018 6:13 pm

Sorry I'm late. My wife had been sick the last two days, and when I got home from work this morning she was feeling really bad. I took her to the ER and we were there a few hours. Then we came home and I got four hours' sleep and got up and went to pick up her prescriptions. She is going to be okay.

Here are some famous quotes from broadcasters during sports events. For two points name the announcer who first said it, and for an extra point give the year. This game will be open until this time tomorrow.

1. “The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant!”

2. “Do you believe in miracles?”

3. “Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!”

4. “I don’t believe what I just saw!”

Two-point conversion: What did John McKay, the coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they were a struggling expansion team, say when asked about his team’s execution?

I don't know any of those, can't even guess, but I'm glad to hear your wife will be O.K..

It's good to hear that your wife will be okay.

1. “The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant!”

I know the year was 1951 (the Bobby Thomson homer). I can't remember the announcer's name. I think it was Russ Hodges.

2. “Do you believe in miracles?”

Al Michaels in 1980 (Miracle On Ice)

3. “Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!”

I know Howard Cosell said this. I think the Foreman-Frazier fight was 1973.

4. “I don’t believe what I just saw!”

Jack Buck in 1988 (Kirk Gibson's homer)

Two-point conversion: What did John McKay, the coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they were a struggling expansion team, say when asked about his team’s execution?

It's one of the greatest sports quotes of all time. He said that he was in favor of it.
