Minor League Extra Inning Rule Strikes

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Tue Aug 07, 2018 1:16 pm

The Clearwater Thrashers, a Phillies minor league affiliate in the Florida State League, beat the Tampa Tarpons in a game in which they did not get a hit or receive a walk, thanks to the new minor league rule that starts extra innings with a runner on second base. With the score 0-0 after seven innings (minor league doubleheaders are seven innings long), the automatic runner advanced to third on an error, then scored on a ground ball fielders choice on which the runner beat the throw home. Tampa did not score in its half of the eighth inning.

Next season, they'll have double up to catch up, where runs scored in the ninth inning count double.
