Compendium, as of August 26: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=55782

Time to celebrate Labor Day weekend with some hot hits! All ten of today's entries are undisputed hits. All of them peaked in the Top 15 of the Hot 100, with eight of them reaching the Top 5. The last one on today's list was a big #1 hit. Let's go!

#20. Bad Boy, Miami Sound Machine (1985)

One of Gloria Estefan's first mainstream hits in America. The title became the inspiration for Sean "Diddy" Combs's record label, and he famously sampled this song when he produced his protege Mase's 1997 hit "Feel So Good".

#18. Hands to Heaven, Breathe (1988)

#17. Casanova, LeVert (1987)

The only Top 40 hit for this R&B group, although they had a string of 12 top tens on the R&B Singles chart from 1986-93. Gerald Levert had a very successful solo career, charting countless hits on the R&B and pop charts from 1991 until his sudden death in 2006. Sixteen months after Gerald's death, younger brother Sean also died suddenly.

#16. All I Need Is a Miracle, Mike + the Mechanics (1986)

#15. Midnight Blue, Lou Gramm (1987)

One of two Top 10s that Lou had outside of Foreigner.

#14. True Love, Glenn Frey (1988)

Glenn's last solo Top 40 hit.

#13. If You Leave, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (1986)

#12. Freeway of Love, Aretha Franklin (1985)

Sadly coincidental that this song came up around the same time that we laid the Queen of Soul to rest.

#11. One More Try, George Michael (1988)

And I guess it was only appropriate that Aretha and George be reunited here as they now are in Heaven, as they gave us one of the biggest duets in pop history, "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)".

Friday, we say goodbye to the 1980s with a bang.
"[Drumpf's] name alone creates division and anger, whose words inspire dissension and hatred, and can't possibly 'Make America Great Again.'" --Kobe Bryant (1978-2020)

"In times of crisis, the wise build bridges. The foolish build barriers." --Chadwick Boseman (1976-2020)
