I've been made aware that our friend Ed Toutant is in very poor condition with brain cancer. Unfortunately, he can't really communicate or anything, but I'm sure he and his family would appreciate all our good thoughts and prayers in his last days.

Oh no.

I'm glad he got his chance on the show to shine.

I 'specially tuned in his redo, which the show, then on prime time, kinda buried by scheduling it at a diff time.

May God's peace be with Ed, and his loving friends and family, as this bend in the road takes them into places yet unseen. Please bless them with strength and bravery in their journey.

I so sad to hear of this. I met Ed in St. Louis at my first audition, so long ago. Very much unlike me, but a good guy.

In his honor I will misspell someting.

Ed, take care. I hope you find peace and your final days are pain free.

What he did for me was amazing, and I will forever be grateful for the time I had with him.

Damn. You always wonder when someone stops posting just why they're no longer around... but it never seems to be what you always fear. I wish this would have been one of those many times...

Wishing good thoughts for Ed and his family. I was fortunate to meet him at my taping, which was where he got his infamous glowing potato question. He was an all around nice guy, and nobody was as excited for him as I was when he redeemed himself a few months later. This just sucks...

Very sad to hear this. I have never met Ed in person (dammit), but he has sat in online with our team in the Stevens Point trivia contest for the past several years, and his help and insights have always been very much appreciated. Keeping him and his loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.

Folks, I may have jumped the gun on reporting this. Please do not spread this news outside of this little "family." I'm waiting to hear whether it's okay to publicize.

I thought I deleted the post right after I made it, but apparently not.

I will be visiting Ed on October 15-17

I will pass along all of your regards.

Ed has asked that his situation not be discussed widely, but if you do see is being discussed elsewhere perhaps you can add mention of the following to redirect the discussion.

Something else that is upcoming:

Later this week should see completion of an account established within an existing 501(c)3 foundation to be called The Toutant Intellectual Competition Fund. This is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to provide resources to writers and competitors, as well as to events and other organizations which present opportunities for individuals or teams to answer questions from all areas of knowledge.

The Toutant Intellectual Competition Fund supports grant proposals from an endowment. Our decision making process is informed by a board members with experience with content creation and competition. We strive to increase the diversity of participants and events, and to make a positive impact at the local, regional, national, and international level.

More details will be forthcoming on a website under construction.

You may contact me directly at g dot Paul dot Bailey at Colorado dot edu as I don't frequntly get to this board (bored)
