Fireball's Fantastic 500 -- Early 1990s, Part VI

#1 Post by Pastor Fireball » Thu Oct 18, 2018 4:22 pm

In case you didn't catch it on my Facebook page, I did quite well for myself at CinCityCon last weekend. I brought home the title of Ohio State Champion in the word game of Wordsy. I was also the runner-up in the state's Ticket to Ride tournament. I also competed in the state's Catan tournament, but I scored only 14 points over the course of three matches. I wasn't really expecting to win in Catan. I was just in it to have fun. The Play to Win drawings were also good to me, as I took home copies of three additional games--Can't Stop, Puerto Rico, and The Networks.

Somebody who has done quite well for herself in the music industry is Diane Warren. We've seen two of her songs already in my countdown--"Rhythm of the Night" and "Set the Night to Music". Three more of her songs made my top twenty of the early 1990s. You'll see two of them today.

#20. I'll Never Get Over You (Getting Over Me), Exposé (1992)

This is one of the Diane Warren songs.

#19. Love of a Lifetime, Firehouse (1991)

#18. Sacrifice, Elton John (1990)

Yeah, you knew we couldn't go too far without hearing from Sir Elton again. Chris Isaak features in this video.

#17. I'm the Only One, Melissa Etheridge (1993)

The biggest pop hit for the future Oscar winner.

#16. I Swear, All-4-One (1994)

#15. I Wanna Be Rich, Calloway (1990)

I wanna be rich, but I still wanna have a soul. I wanna be Ted Turner rich, not Koch brothers rich.

#14. In the House of Stone and Light, Martin Page (1994)

The man who co-wrote Starship's "We Built This City" (#34 on my Late 1980s list) and Go West's "Faithful" (#56 on this list) charted his only Top 40 hit as a singer with this tribute to mountains and canyons.

#13. Roam, the B-52s (1990)

You can never go wrong with a B-52s song, can you? This one was a lot of fun.

#12. Live for Loving You, Gloria Estefan (1991)

Here's the second Diane Warren song of the week.

#11. Here and Now, Luther Vandross (1990)

And just like that, there's only one week left of this part of the decade. The top ten is next Friday at the regular time!
