Re: RIP Willie McCovey
He was one of the first true baseball legends that I actually saw play.
I am glad that the Giants were able to honor him in so many ways while he was still alive.
RIP, Stretch!

Re: RIP Willie McCovey
As a kid, the Giants were my favorite NATIONAL League team. The two Willies were, no surprise, my favorite players on the team (Mr. Mays, despite never being a Yankee, remains my favorite player of all time). I was quite saddened to see this news..another name from my childhood gone

Re: RIP Willie McCovey
I remember listening to the 1962 World Series in elementary school (we couldn't watch TV but the teacher put it on the radio as a treat; that was back when all games were played in the afternoon).
I'm especially glad the Giants treated McCovey right in later years. Too many sports stars get booted to the sidelines after they retire. McCovey got to enjoy the recognition, and he'll be remembered as long as the Giants play in their current stadium, every time someone hits a home run into McCovey Cove.
