I protest this question. I believe that the correct phrase is "champing at the bit".

I have always heard chomping, not champing.

Yeah, but he's near the limits of the WABC viewing area. According to Google Maps, Shark River Hills is just a neighborhood in Neptune, NJ, near Asbury Park.

His accent sounded to me like he was originally from the city and not a native New Jerseyan, anyway.
