So I'm taking somebody's basement spot. Whatever, pull your thong out of your bahonka and deal with it....

[Reveal] Spoiler:
1970s
"The Last Hurrah"

Are the following TV characters dead or alive? (two points each)
(Remember: You need to indicate if the character was killed off during the normal run of the show, not the current status of the actor):

1. Col. Henry Blake (M*A*S*H, played by McLean Stevensen)

Dead

Back before the internet, when spoilers could actually be avoided

2. James Evans ("Good Times", played by John Amos)

Dead

He either wanted bigger money or a bigger role, which is always bad for a character's health....

3. Detective Phil Fish ("Barney Miller", played by Abe Vigoda)

Alive

Wasn't there a spin off with Bernice?

4. Joan Bradford ("Eight is Enough", played by Diana Hyland)

Dead

Don't know, but I'm just basing it off of the actress' early demise

5. Chuckles the Clown ("The Mary Tyler Moore Show", played by Richard Shaal)

Dead

6. Doug Lawrence (The father on "Family", played by James Broderick)

Alive

7. Grandpa (Zeb) Walton ("The Waltons", played by Will Geer)

Alive

Blah, I had this as dead, but I actually went back and read your instruction, and I think his death was in a tv movie, hence the 'normal run of the show'. I'm going to pissed if this is wrong.

Note 1: "Yes" is not an acceptable response
Note 2: It's the character, not the actor

1970s/1980s
And now, a word from our sponsors:

8. A veteran, Oscar-winning actor delivered the line, "Don't leave home without them!" in a series of commercials in the 70s and 80s. Two points each.

Name the actor.

Karl Malden

At first I put Telly Savalas, but he was Player's Club...

Name the product.

American Express

1970s/1980s
Spelling Bee (three points):

9. Which of these was not an Aaron Spelling-produced shows:

a. Charlie's Angels
b. Dallas
c. Hotel
d. Starsky and Hutch

I know it's mostly series that he's known for, but Satan's School for Girls and Death at Love House were two of my favorites. Hey I was a kid, I didn't know for cheese!

1990s
Doctor in the House!

Match the TV doctor to the correct 90s show found in the list below. Two points each.

10. Dr. Kate Austin

Chicago Hope

Thanks for being in the toilet for your award, Christine Lahti, since it's the only reason I knew this

11. Dr. Joel Fleischman

Northern Exposure

12. Dr. Mark Sloan

Diagnosis Murder

13. Dr. Kerry Weaver

E/R

Chicago Hope, China Beach, Diagnosis Murder, ER , Northern Exposure

Ha! I really need to read through the whole question, I strained my brain for nothing! (Although it did help me remember Dick Van Dyke)

2000s
"Our Town"
(two points each)
14. One of these four 00s shows has a different geographical setting than the others:

Crossing Jordan
Dharma & Greg
The Practice
Two Guys and a Girl

What US city is the setting for three of the four shows?

Boston

Which show doesn't belong?

Dharma and Greg

Bonus: Name the setting of the outlier.

San Francisco

And I don't take my own advice, because I was wondering why there were so many Bostons...ha!

2000s
Special Guest Star
15. After the death of star John Ritter at the start Season 2 of 8 Simple Rules, a veteran TV actor was brought to play the grandfather, Jim Egan, giving the show life for two more seasons.

Name the actor who "replaced" John Ritter. (four points)

James Garner

I don't know why I think this, since I didn't watch this much. Maybe just because of the character's name....

Bonus: Name the network. (one point)

ABC

2010s
Swan Song

Match these recent series finale episode titles/dates to the correct series (two points each):
16. Crossfire/May 16, 2016

Castle

17. Last Forever/March 31, 2014

How I Met Your Mother

18. Latching/April 16, 2017

Girls

19. Of Course He's Dead/February 19, 2015

Two and a Half Men

20. Person to Person/May 17, 2015

Mad Men

These are all guesses since I pay little attention to titles. Just going from dates and the type of show

a. Castle ABC
b. Girls HBO
c. How I Met Your Mother CBS
d. Mad Men AMC
e. Two and a Half Men CBS

Bonus: Name the network for each show (one point each)

Total points: 55

Unofficial BB poll:

Which Bored challenge would you like to see return in May?
Timeline
Wheelhouse
Ten!
Bandstand
Dead or Alive?
None. I'd rather read political threads.

I probably shouldn't vote, since I rarely even know if there's a game unless a little birdie tell me, so I'll vote twice to make up for it. If you do one of these, somebody tell me and I promist to come on and play!

Thanks for playing, everyone! It has been my pleasure hosting Decades: PrimeTime. I took a break from writing to prepare this, but now it's time to crack open the manuscript and create golden words. See ya 'round the Bored!

You're very welcome. It's a lot of work, but I love the research. I had some material left from Prime Time on the previous Bored, so I decided to fire it up again. I would have loved it to go another week or two, but all games must end.

Oddly enough, if I were a player, I'd be middle of the pack at best.
