Despite numerous delays and personal days, I will fulfill my commitment to post my favorite songs every week for a whole year. This is not the end of the series, of course. More songs are coming during these final two weeks of the year.

But now... my eleven favorite songs of the 2010s!

#11. Shut Up + Dance, Walk the Moon (2014)

#10. Dynamite, Taio Cruz (2010)

#9. Without You, David Guetta f/ Usher (2011)

#8. Sugar, Maroon 5 (2015)

Another popular selection on YouTube, as this one has gotten over 2.8 billion hits in a shade under four years.

#7. Give Me Everything, Pitbull f/ Ne-Yo, Afrojack, & Nayer (2011)

I just heard this song on my car radio this morning, and it reminded me of how much I love this song. So much so that, at the last minute, I actually changed its ranking on my list. I moved it up one spot, knocking "Sugar" down to #8.

#6. Thinking Out Loud, Ed Sheeran (2014)

Yet another YouTube video with over 2.5 billion hits. This is, of course, the song that made the young redhead an international star.

#5. Want to Want Me, Jason Derulo (2015)

#4. I'm Not the Only One, Sam Smith (2014)

#3. Get Lucky, Daft Punk f/ Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers (2013)

#2. I Feel It Coming, The Weeknd f/ Daft Punk (2016)

Those French guys with the futuristic hoods take two of the top three spots on my 2010s list... but considering that 99% of the music in this decade has been absolute crap, Daft Punk kind of did it by default.

And now my 500th and final favorite song of all-time is...

1. HUMBLE., Kendrick Lamar (2017)

I did a lot of flip-flopping since I put together my list last year. I had this song as my #1 of the decade for half of 2018, and "I Feel It Coming" at #1 for the other half. Ultimately, my tiebreaker was based on which of the two songs would make BackInTex the most uncomfortable. Kung Fu Kenny won that by a landslide, so here he is. This is the most recent song to appear in my Top 500. This song was released last March... and when I first heard it, I knew that it was going to take a very high spot on my all-time list. The critics agreed with me, as Kendrick went on to win a truckload of Grammys and MTV Video Music Awards for this song and video. If I were to do a top albums list, like T_Bone did, DAMN. would unquestionably be near the top of that list. In April, DAMN. added another award to its credentials--the Pulitzer Prize for Music. This makes Kendrick the first rap artist to win a Pulitzer, putting him in some very lofty company with musical heavyweights like Bob Dylan, Duke Ellington, and Aaron Copland. Kendrick may match Bob Dylan's feat of winning an Oscar in a couple of months, but it remains to be seen if Kendrick will ever win a Nobel Prize for Literature.

That's it! That's the list! I'll be back on Tuesday to drop over some appropriately seasonal tunes. I said late last year that I wouldn't do the holiday special until the 21st, but how was I supposed to predict that my home internet service would be down in December?

"... the baseless self-serving persecution foisted upon the Bored by Beast, Estonut, jarnon, Bob#s, and Weasel [in June]. Nonetheless, my life and this game go on as scheduled. Both my life and this game MUST go on, full speed, in direct defiance of the prejudice. Otherwise, the terrorists win."
