43. She never won an Emmy off of her four career nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in both drama and comedy. Contrary to popular belief, she has never been jealous of either of the Emmy-winning co-stars of her respective series.

I'm the one who suggested Susan St. James for this - but I was wrong. First of all, she has FIVE nominations as lead actress. Second, nobody else from McMillan and Wife ever won an Emmy.

Eva LeGallienne's most prominent film role was Resurrection, where she played the mother of actor Roberts Blossom.

Is it possible he reversed this and expected us to make Robert Blossoms? Blossoms is a natural password link to Flowers, and I never like the Billy Crystal/Robert Urich match much.

This is where having a creator who doesn't abandon the puzzle would come in handy.
I don't think he would have done this. I have a feeling Eva is there for her first name.

The other possibility is that I might have been wrong about it being Eva LeGallienne. I just checked her resume, and I can't find all of these playwrights, at least on Broadway. She was famous for her stage adaptation of Alice in Wonderland and was one of the premiere interpreters of Ibsen, but I never bothered checking the rest. On the other hand, I can't find anybody else who it might have been either.

I am wondering if 88 might be Dame Edith Evans instead of Eva Le Gallienne.

Congreve only wrote five plays, and Evans is well-known for her role in The Way of the World.

She was also well-know for her Lady Bracknell, and I've also confirmed she did Sheridan and Ibsen. So that's four of our playwrights, but I can't confirm about du Maurier or Carroll. Also, we've had one Edith in the puzzle already. So I'm not at all sure.

I think I found one dame who fits all the writers: Margaret Rutherford.

Sheridan -- The rivals
Congreve -- The Way of the World
du Maurier -- Rebecca
Ibsen -- Master Builder
Wilde -- The Importance of Being Earnest
Carroll -- Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass

I don't see a way to get Brown out of those words, or any of the other words, either.

I know I'm late to the party, but I don't see any discussion as to why Drake's real name is not used -- do you think that's a possibility? His real name is Aubrey Drake Graham.

Three to go, assuming everything so far is right. I'm hoping our unsolved clue is actually a better match for Billy Crystal, because I'd like to put Robert back into play.

Oh, jeez. "Flowers" doesn't refer to plants it refers to things that flow, and yields us someone who later replaced Paul Lynde in the center square:

13. She was one of the youngest people in history to have her own radio show, when she hosted a weekly fifteen-minute music series for NBC at just twenty-one years old.

How about ROSE MARIE?

Although, to be honest, I think she was MUCH younger than 21 when she had her own show.

Joan Rivers might also go with Billy Crystal, since she wrote and directed Rabbit Test.

I thought the same thing. I'm still hoping this will be someone who makes a better match with Billy Crystal.

W.E.B. DuBois is still bedeviling me. I keep looking through lists of NAACP founders, etc, and haven't yet found a name that works.

In the meantime, I'll have a new lyrics-based game ready to post in a few days whether we finish this or not.

If Drake could be Aubrey Graham, then it's possible DuBois could be William.

There was a Carrie Meek who is kind of connected to Maxine Waters, but I can't find any Carries who had an NBC radio show.

Synonyms for whiskey? I got bourbon and rye, but no other likely candidates.

It doesn't have to be a synonym. Some Password clues are antonyms or related words. Haven't found any of those, either.

Here's a wrinkle. I just checked the current membership of the Congressional Black Caucus for a Maxine Waters link, and found Emanuel Cleaver. So maybe it's Emanuel Cleaver (Chopper) rather than Emanuel Ax (Chopper), and there's another match for Yo Yo Ma???????
