Lyrically Speaking - 1/17/19

#1 Post by ItsAMadMadMadMadSwine » Thu Jan 17, 2019 2:32 am

Wow, has it already been an entire decade since I was last relevant? And you're not all dead yet? Eh, that's how it is in the apocalyptic pandemic business... one day you're the death of mankind, and the next day you're hanging out with flesh eating bacteria and Y2K in the dustbin of media scare history. So anyway, now that people no longer fear me, I've retired to this beautiful pigpen out in the country here. And since I've got plenty of free time to write games, I came up with one for the LSWE that LB's going to let me post that's all about this farm life I've gotten used to! The livin's easy and.... oh excuse me, Farmer John wants to see me. Looks like he wants to show me his brand new axe and maybe invite me over for breakfast tomorrow! Oink oink!!!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. At the Houses of Parliament
Ev'rybody's talking 'bout the President
We all chip in for a bag of cement

2. The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds

3. I make a little room and she climbs on up
Open up a throttle and stir a little dust
Just look at her face she ain’t a foolin’ me

4. I grew up like my daddy did
My grandpa cleared this land
When I was five I walked the fence
While grandpa held my hand

5. Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark, and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light

6. Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet

7. I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left

8. One July in the midnight hour
He climbed a foam blue water tower
Stood on the rail and painted a ten foot heart

9. Like a cat running in the heat of the night
Got a fire in my eyes, got a date with delight
Some kinda moaning in the heart of the storm
I'm gonna love you so hard, if you want your loving done

10. Got my pills 'gainst mosquito death
My buddy's breathing his dying breath
Oh, God, please won't you
Help me make it through

11. Could you be, could you be squeaky clean
And smash any hope of democracy ?
As the headline says you're free to choose
There's egg on your face and mud on your shoes
One of these days they're gonna call it the blues

12. Drying in the cold sun
Watching as the frilly panties run

Spoiler
1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. At the Houses of Parliament
Ev'rybody's talking 'bout the President
We all chip in for a bag of cement

Junior's Farm - Paul McCartney

Ozzy Rule! One of the few "solo" PM songs I like

2. The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds

Horse with No Name - America

3. I make a little room and she climbs on up
Open up a throttle and stir a little dust
Just look at her face she ain’t a foolin’ me

That Tractor Song - Mr. Kenny Zellweger

4. I grew up like my daddy did
My grandpa cleared this land
When I was five I walked the fence
While grandpa held my hand

Rain on the Scarecrow - John Cougar

Johnny Cougar Mellencamp Rule!!!1

5. Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark, and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light

Dancing in the Moonlight - King Harvest

I always think this is by Harvest or King Crimson....

6. Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet

Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult

Since I doubt that I'd get umlaut credit, I can't be bothered

7. I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left

Fields of Gold - Eva Cassidy

So sad, she had such a pure, beautiful voice....

8. One July in the midnight hour
He climbed a foam blue water tower
Stood on the rail and painted a ten foot heart

John Deere Green - Joe Diffie

Of all of the C&W chestnuts you might pull out, I'm not sure Diffie would have even been on my list. Btw, he claims one of the best titles ever for a non-novelty song, If the Devil Danced in Empty Pockets, He'd Have a Ball in Mine. Seriously, check it out, it's actually a great tune.
Also, foam blue? I know you go from lyrics sites so I don't usually bitch about mistakes (Esto!!1), but that seems so random....

9. Like a cat running in the heat of the night
Got a fire in my eyes, got a date with delight
Some kinda moaning in the heart of the storm
I'm gonna love you so hard, if you want your loving done

Tall Cool One - Robert Plant

10. Got my pills 'gainst mosquito death
My buddy's breathing his dying breath
Oh, God, please won't you
Help me make it through

Grab the Swatter, Wilma - Summer in the Outhouse

11. Could you be, could you be squeaky clean
And smash any hope of democracy ?
As the headline says you're free to choose
There's egg on your face and mud on your shoes
One of these days they're gonna call it the blue

Caught Grampa Bonin' in the Chicken Coop Again - Oatmeal for Breakfast

12. Drying in the cold sun
Watching as the frilly panties run

Aqualung - Jethro Tull

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains a reference to farming in the title or artist.

Wildwood Weed - Jim Stafford

Get the hell off that windmill, Billy Wayne! And, for God's sake, put some clothes on!

If God doesn't live in Colorado, I bet that's where He spends most of His time...

1. At the Houses of Parliament
Ev'rybody's talking 'bout the President
We all chip in for a bag of cement
Junior's Farm - Paul McCartney/Wings (I always have trouble remembering which is Junior's Farm and which is Maggie's Farm...)

2. The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds
A Horse With No Name - America

3. I make a little room and she climbs on up
Open up a throttle and stir a little dust
Just look at her face she ain’t a foolin’ me
She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy - Kenny Chesney

4. I grew up like my daddy did
My grandpa cleared this land
When I was five I walked the fence
While grandpa held my hand
Rain on the Scarecrow - John Cougar Mellencamp (I always default to JCM, but this was really from the JCM era...)

5. Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark, and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Dancing in the Moonlight - King Harvest (Junior meet Maggie. Harvest, meet Crimson...)

6. Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet
Don't Fear The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult (Parentheticals only belong outside the bold in LSWE...)

7. I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
Fields Of Gold - Sting (I can always count on being "introduced" to several new artists every time I run LSWE. Eva Cassidy.... who knew?)

8. One July in the midnight hour
He climbed a foam blue water tower
Stood on the rail and painted a ten foot heart
John Deere Green - Joe Diffie (Almost every "modern" country song I use in the LSWE is a Mecca Radio earworm. I hear this garbage a lot...)

9. Like a cat running in the heat of the night
Got a fire in my eyes, got a date with delight
Some kinda moaning in the heart of the storm
I'm gonna love you so hard, if you want your loving done
Tall Cool One - Robert Plant (I can never remember what the actual name of this song is since all I ever remember are the Lighten Up Babies. I originally wrote it down as Long Cool Woman, then when I couldn't find the song under L, I remembered it was Tall. And then.... oh duh, it's One, not Woman. I'd suck at my own game if you didn't already realize...)

10. Got my pills 'gainst mosquito death
My buddy's breathing his dying breath
Oh, God, please won't you
Help me make it through
Rooster - Alice in Chains

11. Could you be, could you be squeaky clean
And smash any hope of democracy ?
As the headline says you're free to choose
There's egg on your face and mud on your shoes
One of these days they're gonna call it the blues
Sowing the Seeds of Love - Tears For Fears (A song I somehow missed the first time around, but came to love the video when it'd get played on VH1's The Big 80's in the late 90's...)

12. Drying in the cold sun
Watching as the frilly panties run
Aqualung - Jethro Tull (I hope everyone knew why this one fit the theme...)

Image Bonus: Show me the simple life! But be careful... I get allergic smelling hay. - The dung blends in well with most of the rest of the threads on this Bored, and I expected the hermillion homages. As much as I loved Earl's Farm, I had to go back to Krox's pic. I'd initially given him 2 JJCP's for the token animal humping pic.... then I realized that bulls don't have nipples THAT prominent. So he got a supermax and hell, why not the IBB as well for some good ol' lesbian action on the farm. The LSWE is rated NC-17...
