Lyrically Speaking - 1/21/19

#1 Post by Evil Squirrel » Mon Jan 21, 2019 7:57 am

Woohoo!!! Today's the greatest day of the entire whole wide year! Yep, it's National Squirrel Appreciation Day!!!! NSAD has been celebrated on January 21st every year since 2001, and squirrels like me look forward to good people like you paying attention to how awesome we are and giving us corn and scritches! In honor of this very special occasion, I've hijacked some of LB's bestest photos of my squirrel kin and set them to lyrics. I just know my very good friend Sprotsie Baby is going to LOVE playing this game!!!! I know a way to get lots and lots of JJC points!!!! :D :D :D

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, and I hope you all can see the photos!

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

--squirrelmama (10/3/07)

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

Whoohoo! This is Jump, by the Van Halens. Annie liked them because they named one of their kids Wolfgang, just like Mr. Mozart, which she considered a sign of superior musical understanding. I only know Mrs. Van Halens, because she is on a tv shopping channel sometimes. She sells cooking dishes and wine. My mom won't let me buy them, but I would if I could, because she has a very nice smile. Mrs. Van Halens, not my mom. (My mom has an okay smile, too, but sometimes when she is mad at me and Wiki, mostly Wiki, she sort of grits her teeth while she is smiling. It's kind of scary.)

This is the only song we know today. Wiki says that it's her favorite. I don't know if she ever really heard it, or if when I told her the name, she just decided it should be her favorite. Wiki is an excellent jumper!

Hell, by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. I hope I won't get into trouble for typing that.

Spoiler
1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, and I hope you all can see the photos!

1. Jump - Van Halen

I wonder if anybody else was like me and knee jerked Tubthumping before reading it a second time, ha! Instead we get this bright little tune that, if legend is to be believed, is actually about encouraging somebody standing on the ledge of a building to just go ahead and jump...

2. Brown Eyed Squirrel - Van Morrison

Hey! Two Vans in a row, that would be a cool theme..... I did get my Annie bonus for Sawyer Brown the last game, right?

3. Fox on the Run - The Sweet

Yay!!!!!!1 I know you did this just for me...suck it, Esto!

4. Upside Down - Diana Ross

This is one where the picture really helped. (Yes, I am actually admiring the photos and that better get me extra Art Appreciation Points...)

5. Sunshine Superman - Donovan

I was going to make a joke about the wondrous beaches of GC when the actual meaning hit me, duh....

6. Hitchin' a Ride - Vanity Fare

Spelling counts!

7. Rubberband Man - The Spinners

8. I Am a Rock - Simon & Garfunkel

9. The Grand Illusion - Styx

One of the few DeYoung Styx songs I like (I come down on the Shaw side of Styx) but I'm not getting the picture....other than some sticks on the side?

10. Wild Thing - Tone-LOC

I'm going to pretend this one was for me as well, although it probably wasn't...

11. Big Balls - AC/DC

Okay, now this is just getting ridiculous.....

12. Backstabbers - O'Jays

Or is is Smiling Faces? Maybe that's a parenthetical.... either way, good one for the pic!

Yay, a clean sweep! I might have gotten some numbers mixed up, but I was having to go back and forth with three windows at once (my posting window, another one open to the original post for the pictures and a third one to open the images because HK cuts off half the picture. Although I was able to get some of them just by the lyrics scraps that were shown...

Kroxquo Bonus: Name a song with artist that reminds you of squirrels.

I Love - Tom T. Hall

I knew my krox right away, since Fox on the Run of course put the "other" one in my head......

Jump - Van Halen (I recently ran off a Top 200 Photos I've Ever Taken countdown on my blog and ranked this in the runner up spot. A very, very rare crystal clear photo of a squirrel jumping...)

Image
Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison (If you missed the Annie Bonus on this one, I just don't know. The picture was just screaming Brown Eyed Squirrel...)

Image
Fox On The Run - Sweet (One of my favorite songs ever... which is why it appears in LSWE so often. Though I do always enjoy seeing Earl put that extraneous "The" in front of Sweet...)

Image
Upside Down - Diana Ross (Batsquirrel is probably the coolest squirrel I've ever photographed. I only found him by scanning the tree with my camera trying to follow a different squirrel. He's WAAAAAY off the ground doing that shit!)

Image
Sunshine Superman - Donovan (I have lots of photos of squirrels running. This is the only one I have where the squirrel is flat out horizontal...)

Image
Hitchin' A Ride - Vanity Fare (I realized too late I typoed "drowin'" I was curious to see if Esto would try to correct a typo in an image, though....)

Image
Rubberband Man - Spinners (When I showed off this photo on my blog, I used the title of #9 for the post. But Stretchy Squirrel goes better with The Spinners...)

Image
I Am A Rock - Simon & Garfunkel (The same rock in my neighbor's yard that appears in #1... though [probably] not the same squirrel...)

Image
The Grand Illusion - Styx (A much more visibly pleasing illusion than #7, since the squirrel looks like it literally faceplanted out of the tree. The "ground" is actually part of a small mound in the foreground, though...)

Image
Wild Thing - Tone Loc (There were a lot of songs I could have used with this photo, but Tone is a mainstay in the LSWE...)

Image
Big Balls - AC/DC (Not something the squirrel in Frank's video is bragging about...)

Image
The Backstabbers - O'Jays (The only thing I Photoshopped in that picture was adding the dagger. That photo was screaming Et Tu Brute from the moment I uploaded it. Fun Fact! These are the same two squirrels in #10! In fact, I took this picture only about a minute before that one. This squirrel knows how to pick up the chicks...)

Image Bonus: Show some appreciation for our sciurine friends on their special day! - Frank's video was obviously meant for Sick and Cruel Humor Appreciation Day... but it still got the IBB. Now please, get that squirrel's jewels freed from that crack!

JJC Points:

frank gets a supermax for a very bad case of black and blue balls...

TBone gets 3 JJC points for Slappy Squirrel, who was my favorite Animaniacs character long before I gave a rat's ass about the species...

AD gets 3 JJC points for the best squirrel commercial and Leave a Tender Moment Alone, which cracked me up...

Weasel gets 3 JJC points for that awesome fake diploma, especially now that I just noticed it was signed by Mr. Snuffleupagus....

Panic gets 2 JJC points for an image that is strangely cut off... though I could tell what it said, and it is a sentiment with which I heartily agree (Stupid birds!)...

melly gets 2 JJC points for a ballet squirrel...

Skoop gets a JJC point for the fun Casey Kasum fact...

Sprots gets 3 JJC points for NOT properly appreciating squirrels (And for forgetting ES's scritches)...

vandal gets 2 JJC points for his strange Lionel Richie fetish...

Lizzie and Wiki get 2 JJC points for adding a spoiler and for knowing about the Van Halens...

Earl gets a supermax for thinking its all about her, still using that dreadful HK interface, and for The Real Earl doing The Spilly Boy...

Bob gets a JJC point for not properly appreciating Mondays...

Anon gets 2 JJC points for imagining bestiality, and is fortunate I didn't eject him from the game for invoking the squirrel who shall not be named...

Esto gets 2 JJC points for Kroxing a song where the squirrel reference was at the beginning so I didn't have to listen to the whole thing (What's up with Ben Folds Five if it only shows three people?)...
