Lyrically Speaking - 1/24/19

#1 Post by MinisterOfPropaganda » Thu Jan 24, 2019 3:46 am

As Minister of Propaganda, I hereby declare....... war! No, that isn't my job. I'm just here to make sure the people get behind our reckless war effort and to "deal" with any insurgence. I will tell you right now that anyone who does not play my LSWE game based on my favorite pastime of WAR will be shot at sunrise without any JJC points!!! Is that perfectly clear? Good. Now salute the huge painting of the LS Fuhr... er, LSWE Meister and get started solving this game! Do it for your Bored!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. You're beggin' me to go, you're makin' me stay
Why do you hurt me so bad
It would help me to know
Do I stand in your way, or am I the best thing you've had

2. In the whole world
You can love but one girl
Let me be that one girl
For I'll be true to you

3. Just like Adam and Eve.
Said you'd set me free, you took me to the sky
I'd never been so high

4. Should've known you was trouble from the first kiss
Had your eyes wide open, why were they open?

5. Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerer of death's construction

6. Where can you learn to fly, play in sports or skindive,
study oceanography?

7. Just a little more time is all we're asking for
Cause just a little more time could open closing doors
Just a little uncertainty can bring you down

8. Hey ho, let's go
Shoot em in the back now
What they want, I don't know
They're all reved up and ready to go

9. They're gonna rip it off
Takin' their time right behind my back
And I'm talkin' to myself at night, because I can't forget
Back and forth through my mind behind a cigarette

10. And our friends are all aboard
Many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play

11. As I returned across the fields I'd known
I recognized the walls that I once laid
I had to stop in my tracks for fear
Of walking on the mines I'd laid

12. Spitting in a wishing well
Blown to hell, crash
I'm the last splash

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains a reference to something war related in the title.

Image Bonus: Of course you know this means WAR!

Spoiler
As Minister of Propaganda, I hereby declare....... war! No, that isn't my job. I'm just here to make sure the people get behind our reckless war effort and to "deal" with any insurgence. I will tell you right now that anyone who does not play my LSWE game based on my favorite pastime of WAR will be shot at sunrise without any JJC points!!! Is that perfectly clear? Good. Now salute the huge painting of the LS Fuhr... er, LSWE Meister and get started solving this game! Do it for your Bored!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

Our streak has started again! Today, me and Wiki both knew an answer, as it's one of our car-radio-singing songs.

Spoiler
#10 is Yellow Submarine by the Beetles.

Someday, me and my sister would like to record a CD of our favorite songs. We could call our musical group "The Beagles," even though neither of us is. (I am pointer-ish, or as they called me at the animal shelter, "a bird dawg." Wiki is half smooth-coated border collie and half flying monkey.) I think we could get the three dogs next door and the one who lives on the other side of the back fence to join in for the recording session too. We would translate the lyrics into Caninese for dogs who are not yet fluent in English. Personally, I think this is an excellent idea, because the music itsownself is a universal language.

One of the many things that makes my little sis a weirdo is that she likes to drink coffee, stealing quick tongue-loads from my mom's coffee whenever the cup is left unattended on her desk. Wiki did that yesterday and got all excited. "Lizzie," she said, "the dog on this cup looks just like you!" "That is me," I answered. "That's from the time when me and Evil Squirrel decided to set up our own military training program to help me become a soldierdog. That was my ambition at the time. Evil helped me, and we became pretty darn good friens in the process. ES made a picture of us and his frien Mr. little put the picture on a mug." Wiki was impressed, and she wanted to use that picture for today's War image.

Neither she nor me could find that picture on the innernets, except on this board. (I even looked at all the stuff for sale at the Squirrel's Nest on Cafe Press. I found a picture of my mom, for heaven's sake, but no Soldierdog Training on Café Press, Google, Bing, or YouTube. I finally found it here -- in a post about Mr. little's avatars from 2011 -- viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37454&p=409889&hili ... ar#p409889. If anybody can help me copy that image to this post, I would be very grateful. I am sorry I don't know how to do it for myownself.

1. You're beggin' me to go, you're makin' me stay
Why do you hurt me so bad
It would help me to know
Do I stand in your way, or am I the best thing you've had
Love Is A Battlefield - Pat Benatar

2. In the whole world
You can love but one girl
Let me be that one girl
For I'll be true to you
Soldier Boy - The Shirelles

3. Just like Adam and Eve.
Said you'd set me free, you took me to the sky
I'd never been so high
You Dropped A Bomb On Me - The Gap Band

4. Should've known you was trouble from the first kiss
Had your eyes wide open, why were they open?
Grenade - Bruno Mars (Mecca Radio seems to only play the crappy Bruno songs. They play this song all the time. Draw your own conclusions...)

5. Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerer of death's construction
War Pigs - Black Sabbath (The Santa Claus version is pretty awesome...)

6. Where can you learn to fly, play in sports or skindive,
study oceanography?
In The Navy - Village People

7. Just a little more time is all we're asking for
Cause just a little more time could open closing doors
Just a little uncertainty can bring you down
Never Surrender - Corey Hart (I almost used Cheap Trick here, but that would have ended the war...)

8. Hey ho, let's go
Shoot em in the back now
What they want, I don't know
They're all reved up and ready to go
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones

9. They're gonna rip it off
Takin' their time right behind my back
And I'm talkin' to myself at night, because I can't forget
Back and forth through my mind behind a cigarette
Seven Nation Army - White Stripes (I tend to use this one a lot for a song I rarely ever hear...)

10. And our friends are all aboard
Many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play
Yellow Submarine - Beatles

11. As I returned across the fields I'd known
I recognized the walls that I once laid
I had to stop in my tracks for fear
Of walking on the mines I'd laid
Fortress Around Your Heart - Sting

12. Spitting in a wishing well
Blown to hell, crash
I'm the last splash
Cannonball - Breeders (One of those weird sounding 90's songs that I love...)

Image Bonus: Of course you know this means WAR! - Sometimes I go into a game with a certain image in mind that will be an automatic IBB if only one player uses it. Bob hit that lottery with the card game War... many many hours of fun for me and my sisters back in the day. At least until my Dad taught us how to play canasta...
