Lyrically Speaking - 1/30/19

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Wed Jan 30, 2019 8:22 am

It's lucky game #13 of the LSWE, and it's a themed game. It's too damned cold to type anything else...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the theme...

1. Lookin at you, lookin at me
The way you move
You know it's easy to see
The neon lights are on me tonight

2. In walks her daddy
Standin' six foot four
He said you ain't gonna swing
With my daughter no more

3. On the corner is a banker with a motorcar,
And little children laugh at him behind his back.

4. Now that she's back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey
She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo
Reminds me that there's a-room to grow, hey, hey

5. Three little birds sat on my window
And they told me I don't need to worry
Summer came like cinnamon, so sweet
Little girls, double-dutch on the concrete

6. Some say eat or be eaten
Some say live and let live
But all are agreed as they join the stampede
You should never take more than you give

7. Segregation, determination, demonstration, intergration,
Aggravation, humiliation, obligation to our nation

8. Sent a letter on a long summer day
Made of silver, not of clay
I've been runnin' down this dusty road

9. Stretched by fewer
Thoughts that leave me
Chasing utter
My dreams disown me
Loaded with danger

10. I've had my fun and now it's time
To serve your conscience overseas (over me, not over me)
Coming in fast, over me

11. She was gettin' bombed,
And I was gettin' blown away,
And she held it in her hand
And this is what she had to say

12. This stone is genuine like love should be
And if your baby's truer than my baby was to me

Theme?

There are some who get frustrated over how I rule on the Image Bonuses (Bonii?), but what tickles the joy centers in my mind is so utterly random, what can I say? This one almost made me piss my pants....

This Diamond Ring, Gary Lewis and the Playboys. About a million years ago, there was a promotion for this song on the back of a cereal box. So I sent away and got it, and on the flip side was a song that will never compete with Wipeout for the best B side of all time -- "Do the Flake." Now I'll hear it all day. Flake, flake, do the flake flake flake . . .

Theme? Circular objects.

Penny Lane, by the Baetles. (I typed that with a British accent, because that's how Mr. Peter Asher says it on the radio, and Mr. Peter knows Mr. Paul because Mr. Peter's sister, Miss Jane, used to be Mr. Paul's girlfrien.)

Yes, it's another Song from the Dog Star! The next line is "And the banker never wears a mac in the falling rain, very strange."

Me and Wiki have had long philosophistal discussions about that. My mom makes mac and cheese for dinner sometimes. She never eats it all, so we help her clean up. The thing is, why and how would a banker or anybody wear cheesey macaroni in any weather? Does he put it on his head? No wonder the kids laugh at him! I think he's just plain crazy. Wiki thinks he needs a rabies shot. We dunno for sure, but it's an interesting puzzle.

We don't know any other songs about pennies or lanes, and we don't know the theme. I told Wiki just to look for something that had one of those words, except for bowling lanes, which are too predictable. Here's what she liked:

Little girls, double-dutch on the concrete

Teacher! Anon is copying off my paper again!

Meanwhile, Sprots demands that I get Bonus Points for using a krox that was not the same as one of the game songs. (Yes, I'm still salty about the Eagles when I could have just as easily used the Statler Brothers. And how many people can say that? Ha!)
Round And Round - Ratt (With an oft-played MTV music video featuring none other than Milton Fucking Berle!)
