Lyrically Speaking - 2/8/19

It's time to dip into my plastic Mecca bag of old LSWE traditions and present another much dreaded version of the short snippets game! Below are very small phrases of literally only a few words that as best I can tell are unique to only one song that would be considered at least somewhat popular and well known. No matter your skill at LSWE, this game will not be easy... and a few of these will surely nag at you. But you have the entire weekend to work on this if you so desire. Have fun!

Wiki really likes coffee. She tries to steal my mom's coffee every day. After she found this picture (and also a youtube that told how to make it), she asked my mom if she could go to Starbucks. My mom said, "Maybe, someday." That's a giant step more positive than the flat "no" I get whenever I ask for something. I'm going to make Wiki ask for everything from now on.

Diamond Dogs - David Jones - Tod Browning's freak

I was going to use ACG's Unfinished Sweet, but I think I used that on a previous snippet game, so this one's for Hottie!!1 (raises LS trophy overhead while crowd goes wild...

Image Bonus: Take any of the 20 short phrases above and show me an an image that fits it (Please list which one you are working off of so I don't have to guess).

I doubt you have to guess on this one....since it's the recipient of the IBB! Fine, fine, it's Dirty Sweet. Now that I think about it, "star shoe shimmy shuffle" would have been a great krox. But since I made my krox a tribute to Hottie (who I doubt will even see it) I'm leaving it as is....

Have fun!

1. Your grand cafe
Don't Ask Me Why - Billy Joel

2. Flicking a cigarette
Hand In My Pocket - Alanis Morrisette

3. Tommy and Gina
It's My Life - Bon Jovi (I thought a few people would answer Livin' On A Prayer. I had no idea it would be most of the class...)

4. Dirty sweet
Bang A Gong - T Rex or Robert Palmer featuring Duran Duran and Chic (I noted [as Anon also pointed out] while including this one that the original and the cover swapped which part was in the parenthetical. I think that was done to intentionally mock me...)

5. Tombstone bar
Lido Shuffle - Boz Skaggs

6. Kissing persuasive lips
Secret Agent Man - Johnny Rivers

7. Cute little Eskimo
Travelin' Man - Ricky Nelson

8. Hot shoe
Panama - Van Halen (I still remember making Kiki about have a heart attack when I used the line about easing the seat back...)

9. Three way script
If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot

10. A wild butterfly
Obsession - Animotion

11. Pierce my tongue
Flagpole Sitta - Harvey "Don't Call Us Green Day" Danger

12. I lost my phone
Just Dance - Lady Gaga

13. Music and the mothers
Nashville Cats - Lovin' Spoonful

14. Suede blue eyes
My Best Friend's Girl - Cars (Most of you were trying to hard to figure out the songs to get this Annie Bonus...)

15. Tucks or silicone
She's So High - Tal Bachman

16. Slow Hand Row
Rikki Don't Lose That Number - Steely Dan

17. Selling salvation
Jacob's Ladder - Huey Lewis (The most unlikely #1 song of the 80's...)

18. Groovy lemon pie
The Candy Man - Sammy Davis, Jr.

19. Walls of heartache
The Warrior - Scandal

20. My coffee's cold
You Wear It Well - Rod Stewart (Included for Sprots, who missed it, of course. I remembered using this in a short snippets game before, with the Madame Onassis line, so that led to me picking a phrase that is apparently also in a Who non-hit... so Panic also gets credit for "Melancholia"...)

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains a short unique phrase, and include the phrase for an extra point. - Every time I include a chance at bonus points in the Krox, I always forget about it until halfway through the scoring. I think I added the third point for everyone I had missed... so when the scores come up, you may want to double check them...

Image Bonus: Take any of the 20 short phrases above and show me an an image that fits it (Please list which one you are working off of so I don't have to guess).

For all the confusion over Thursday's Image Bonus, this one was even worse! While I did accept images relating to the song title itself, I was looking for images based on the lyric snippet I used. In that vain, Earl gets the IBB for dirty Sweet.... no make that dirty The Sweet. I don't know if she saw my comment about her use of the extraneous THE in front of the band, but it cracked me up to see it on the album cover. Who in the hell do they think they are anyway?

Not to appear greedy, but I also mentioned the switched titles, mentioning, but refraining from actually typing in, the parenthesis, given your noted distaste for them.
