Lyrically Speaking - 2/13/19

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Wed Feb 13, 2019 5:55 am

Hmmmm.... looks like someone's getting an early Valentine's Day present. I was sitting here stumped for a theme again, when this paper airplane came flying through my window and landed on my desk... a pretty odd feat considering my window was closed. Anyway, someone wrote up this game and wanted me to dedicate it to their special someone. Given the grubby little pawprints all over the paper, I think I know who both the secret admirer and the secret admiree are... but hey, let's embrace the mystery, why don't we? There's 13 songs in this game.... one of them intentionally used from a previous game this year since it's the song that ties everything about this game together. If you pay attention to the amusing subplots that come up during each LSWE season, you'll understand the concept behind this game......

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. Wearin' her wig hat and shades to match
She's got high-heel shoes and an alligator hat

2. You took me from the shelter of a mother I had never known
Who loved any other
We kissed after taking vows
But that night on our honeymoon
We stayed in separate rooms

3. And we can act like we
Come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind

4. While she's deceiving me
It cuts my security has
She got control of me
I turn to her and say

5. When they saw you kneeling
Crying words that you mean
Opening their eyeballs eyeballs
Pretending that you're Al Green Al Green

6. I asked her what's a
Woman like you doing here
I see you're used to champagne
But I'll buy you a beer

7. When you left me all alone at the record hop
Told me you were goin’ out for a soda pop
You were gone for quite a while, half an hour or more
You came back and man oh man this is what I saw

8. Give me more lovin' from the very start
Piece me back together when I fall apart
Tell me things you never even tell your closest friends

9. You keep lyin' when you oughta be truthin'
You keep losing when you oughta not bet

10. She was afraid to come out in the open
And so a blanket around her she wore
She was afraid to come out in the open
And so she sat bundled up on the shore

11. You got me in a sway and
I want to swing you dove
Now you sailors know
Where your women come for love

12. She had dumps like a truck, truck, truck
Thighs like what? What? What?
Baby, move your butt, butt, butt
I think I'll sing it again

13. But I ain't forgetting that you were once mine,
but I blew it without even tryin'.
Now I'm eatin' my heart out,
tryin' to get a letter through

You ain't nothin but a hound dog was on the radio this afternoon between my lunch date and the house. Took me back to the days when that song was banned at our house. Not because of any lyrics or anything, but because my older brother and his pals sang it incessantly. Until it was banned.

No, I can't see her kroxing The Thong Song..... TIght Fitting Jeans? Do she wear a thong? What? Even though I knew what the last song would be, the fact that it was merely clothes (or I guess, things one wears since Band of Gold is in there) took me way too long to figure out, even with the image clue.

Me and Wiki don't understand why we're supposed to embrace the mystery, when it's not much of a mystery. I've known Evil Squirrel my whole life, and he's gone from being my worst enemy to one of my best friens forever, and he's told me -- and everybody else -- that he loves Miss Spro--, I mean, Miss X, who doesn't want to be identified. She is one of my Best Friens Forever, too. That doesn't help us figure out which song ties everything together. For that matter, we can't identify any of the other 12 songs either. So, what else is new?

You came back and man oh man this is what I saw
Lipstick On Your Collar - Connie Francis (I included this song for the lipstick since the theme was supposed to be anything you could wear, not just clothes, and didn't realize it also fit because of the collar. "Pearl Necklace" was going to be in this game before I remembered I had already used it... to say nothing of "Short Skirt, Long Jacket"...)

8. Give me more lovin' from the very start
Piece me back together when I fall apart
Tell me things you never even tell your closest friends
1, 2, 3, 4 - Plain White Tees (This is one of my happy making songs.... while their other best known hit about Delilah sends me into a murderous rage...)

12. She had dumps like a truck, truck, truck
Thighs like what? What? What?
Baby, move your butt, butt, butt

JJC Points:

Vandal was unable to get the theme, but still gets a supermax for the tribute to Ram Jam...

frank gets a supermax for his favorite MTV thespian...

Weasel gets 3 JJC points for Miss Piggy and bedhead...

Panic gets a JJC point for wearing it again, Sam...

AD gets 3 JJC points for prehistoric laundry day and because I find it funny that a Brewers fan would miss a Corey Hart song...

jarnon gets a JJC point for a squirrel juggling cookie cutter stadiums (At least that's what it looks like...)

TBone gets 2 JJC points for rejected pickup lines and for sharp dressed Stooges...

Krox gets 2 JJC points for having a lot of balls...

melly gets 2 JJC points for a sharp dressed dong.... er, wolf.

Sprots gets 2 JJC points for being coy about the theme of the game, and for looking ridiculous...

Lizbit and Wiki get a supermax for a true tale of medieval chivalry...

Anon gets 2 JJC points for Matthew Lesko... who won someone (I think Krox) an IBB a few years ago, but not this time...

Esto gets 2 JJC points for pandering and for having Angst in His Pants (I did listen to the song this time! At least for a minute before I shut it off...)
