Bad news for another well liked celebrity today. This is the 50th Anniversary of the Miracle Mets 1969 World Series, and the Mets will commemorate it on June 29. They will still hold the event, although Seaver won't be there (I'm sure he'll get plenty of mention and affection though). Seaver is 74.

Wow. We actually have something in common.

This news is hitting me pretty hard. I guess I always thought of Tom Terrific as indestructible. Time takes its toll on us all. --Bob

Me too. Loved to watch games at Shea or listen to them on my transistor.

I loved Casey Stengal too. I was a Mets fan even when they stunk.

My favorite quote:
"See that fella over there? He's 20 years old. In 10 years, he's got a chance to be a star. Now that fella over there, he's 20 years old, too. In 10 years he's got a chance to be 30."
