Longtime Democratic senator from Indiana, responsible for drafting the 25th (Presidential Succession) and 26th (18-year-old voting) Amendments, as well as Title IX of the Civil Rights Act, which mandated equal treatment for women's sport programs and equal treatment in general for women in education programs and opportunities.
