#1 Post by franktangredi » Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:31 am

Now that we finally finished off the last one -

Game #188: Pop Muzik

Identify the 70 songs below. Then, match them into 20 pairs and 10 threesomes according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself. No song will be used twice.

1. He went out tiger hunting with his elephant and gun,
In case of accidents he always took his mom,
He's the all American bullet-headed saxon mother's son.

2. My buddies and me are getting real well known,
Yeah, the bad guys know us and they leave us alone.

3. I been in the game for ten years makin' rap tunes
Ever since honeys was wearin' Sassoon,
Now it's '95 and they clock me and watch me
Diamonds shinin', lookin' like I robbed Liberace.

4. Touch me and I feel on fire,
Ain't nothin' like a love desire.
I'm melting (I'm melting) like hot candle wax
Sensation (ah sensation) lovely where we're at.

5. We are the people that can find
Whatever you may need.
If you got the money, honey,
We got your disease.

6. I've been singing with my band
Across the wire, across the land,
I seen every blue eyed floozy on the way, hey,
But their beauty and their style
Went kind of smooth after a while,
Take me to them dirty ladies every time.

7. Well, I know it wasn't you who held me down,
Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free.
So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key.

8. It doesn't matter what they say
In the jealous games people play.

9. How little we understand what touches off that tingle,
That sudden explosion when two tingles intermingle.

10. How you gonna ever find your place
Running in an artificial pace?
Are they gonna find us lying face down in the sand?
So what the hell now, we've already been forever damned.

11. Got to the door, ding dong, who is it?
My girl's best friend had payed me a visit,
Sly as can be, tight dress and all,
She knew that I was faithful, I really didn't have the gall.

12. Where can you learn to fly,
Play in sports and skin dive,
Study oceanography?

13. Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby.

14. You are far,
I'm never gonna be your star.
I'll pick up the pieces
And mend my heart.

15. If I could be king
Even for a day
I’d take you as my queen,
I’d have it no other way.

16. It's poetry in motion,
She turned her tender eyes to me,
As deep as any ocean,
As sweet as any harmony.

17. My motto's always been, “When it's right, it's right.”
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night?

18. I used to think that love was just a fairy tale
Until that first hello, until that first smile,
But if I had to do it all again, I wouldn't change a thing
Cause this love is everlasting.

19. Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain.
I leave my heart open, but it stays right here empty for days.

20. The crops we grew last summer weren't enough to pay the loans,
Couldn't buy the seed to plant this spring and the farmers bank foreclosed.

21. The fascist regime,
They made you a moron,
A potential H bomb.

22. What's the use of trying?
All you get is pain.
When I wanted sunshine I got rain.

23. Oh, will you quench me when I'm thirsty?
Come and cool me down baby, when I'm hot.
Your recipe, darling, is so tasty
And you sure can stir your pot.

24. I just think of you and I start to glow
And I need your light and, baby, you know.

25. Bad is bad
That I feel so sad.
It's time, it's time,
That I felt peace of mind.

26. You need not fear the terror of the night
Nor the arrow that flies by day,
Though thousands fall around you
Near you it shall not come.

27. And it's heigh, heigh, heigh, diddle diddle
And goodbye to the fiddle!
My strings are unstrung
Heigh, heigh, heigh, heigh,
I'm always undone.

28. A church house, gin house,
A school house, outhouse,
On highway number nineteen.
The people keep the city clean.

And gravity won't pull you through,
You know you're missing out on something.
Well, that something depends on you.

30. Did you know I go to sleep and leave the lights on,
Hoping you'd come by and know that I was home and still awake?
But two years go by and still my light's on.
This is hard for me to say
But this is all that I can take.

31. Saving nickels, saving dimes,
Working ‘til the sun don't shine.

32. The leaves on the trees would be softly sighin’
If they heard from the breeze that you left me cryin'.

I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away.

35. Let's do the milkshake,
Selling like a hotcake

36. if I don't need you, then why am I crying on my bed?
If I don't need you, then why does your name resound in my head?
If you're not for me, then why does this distance maim my life?
If you're not for me, then why do I dream of you as my wife?

37. Doctor says you're cured,
But you still feel the pain,
Aspirations in the clouds,
But your hopes go down the drain.

38. Loving you
Is some kind of wonderful
Because you've shown me
Just how much you care.
You've given me the thrill of a lifetime
And made me believe you've got more thrills to spare.

39. The street was deserted late Friday night,
We were buggin' each other while we sat out the light,
We both popped the clutch when the light turned green.
You shoulda heard the whine from my screamin' machine!

40. Here comes that good for nothin' brat of a boy,
He's such a devil I could whip him with joy,
He's been carousin' at the burleycue.
Just watch me teach him with the sole of my shoe.

41. All your compliments and your cutting remarks
Are captured here in my quotation marks.

42. Reaching out for something to hold,
Looking for a love where the climate is cold,
Manic moves and drowsy dreams
Or living in the middle between the two extremes.

43. I’m blowin’ the day to take a walk in the sun
And fall on my face on somebody's new mowed lawn.

44. But look around and you will see
Broken promises and jealousy.
Is that what you should want for us to be:
One time lover turned enemy?

45. Well, I'm so happy that I could flip.
Oh, how I'd love to take a trip.
I'm sorry, teacher, but zip your lip

Up there on that mantle,
Setting the mood,
I just lie there staring,
Silently preparing

I've been pimpin' and pimpin' and pimp pimpin' like Mike Epps.

Side by side, the tide rolls in.
I'm touching you, you're touching me.
If only it could be.

Maybe I can catch a ride.
I couldn't really put it much plainer
But I'll wait 'til you decide.

And look at microscopic germs,
But technicolor pachyderms
Is really too much for me.

And hang our hopes on chandeliers,
We're going long,
We're gaining weight,
We're sleeping long,
And far too late.

But I pray there ain't no hell.

64. Now as I look around, what do I see?
Everybody wants to try to get to know me, baby.
Now it's my prerogative to do what I want to do
And I couldn't see myself, babe, with no one but you.

65. "There's no time to lose, " I heard her say,
“Catch your dreams before they slip away.”

66. Oh, I'm all alone now,
No love to shield me,
Trapped in a world
That's a distorted reality.

67. When your day is long
And the night,
The night is yours alone,
When you're sure you've had enough of this life,
Well, hang on.

68. Here come bad news, talking this and that.
Well, give me all you got, and don't hold it back.
Well, I should probably warn you I'll be just fine,
No offense to you, don't waste your time.

69. I drive on her streets
'Cause she's my companion,
I walk through her hills
'Cause she knows who I am.

70. We're all sensitive people
With so much to give.
Understand me, sugar,
Since we've got to be here,
Let's live.

Late to the party as always...here is what I have to add...

1. He went out tiger hunting with his elephant and gun,
In case of accidents he always took his mom,
He's the all American bullet-headed saxon mother's son.

This sounds like something Warren Zevon might do, and it is bugging the crap out of me...

26. You need not fear the terror of the night
Nor the arrow that flies by day,
Though thousands fall around you
Near you it shall not come.

The song is "On Eagles' Wings" - a gorgeous hymn, but I have no clue who to attribute it to...

46. I don't know why you're not fair,
I give you my love, but you don't care,
So what is right and what is wrong?
Gimme a sign.

What Is Love - Haddaway

67. When your day is long
And the night,
The night is yours alone,
When you're sure you've had enough of this life,
Well, hang on.

Everybody Hurts - R.E.M.
"Again" - Herb Brooks (as played by Kurt Russell)
