The Wizard of Oz has to be Frank Oz, who was the voice of Yoda and Fozzie Bear. So, there should be a matchup with either a Star Wars or Muppets movie. That doesn't narrow things down much though.

Found a Don Ameche/Tyrone Power that could work.

However, that causes another problem …. sigh

A-19. DON AMECHE starred in Love Is News with B-15. Tyrone POWER. The other co-star is Loretta Young. But, we already have a Young.

A-28 MARGARET O’BRIEN starred in Journey for Margaret with B-19 Robert YOUNG and B-37 Laraine DAY

One possible solution is that the missing movie has a Garland or a Drake in the title to help us complete

A-28 MARGARET O’BRIEN starred in Meet Me in St Louis with B-40. Marjorie MAIN and XXXXXX

We don't NEED to use B-37. BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK for a second use, since it's already used for Lewis Black.

Unless Marjorie Main and Tyrone Power were in a Don Ameche movie but I can't find it.

I am pretty sure Steve Martin was in one of the Muppet movies, so there's the actor …. I agree it HAS to be Frank Oz.

Somebody has already identified the movie Frank Oz is here for. You don't have to go looking for another one.

Then I am thinking he is here for INSIDE OUT and we can add him to the Amy Poehler string.

A-19 DON AMECHE was in Ladies in Love with B-15 Tyrone POWER and B-79 Virginia FIELD

Yeah, that'll work.

:D

So, Journey for Margaret stays.

AND, we can still have a second use of Margaret O'Brien, if she matches up with Marjorie Main

Oh, no, Frank!

I am having a blast.

AND I discovered Trail of the Lonesome Pine!

However, you could be a good guy and give us a hint on

B-62. This comedy about a hayseed who becomes a Hollywood star marked the screen debut of a veteran vaudevillian who was best known for his stage role as one of the main characters in the movie referenced in Clue B-1. Got that?

You were looking for the right actor. But I rechecked and, apparently, I made a major boo-boo. It was NOT his film debut.

Would you like me to give you a list of films that were mentioned that I did NOT intend?

Don't feel attacked, Mel. I think Frank was just shifting gears and offering to show all the alternative matches we have come up with that he didn't intend. I have a feeling that would clue us in to what the Fred Stone movie is supposed to be.

Oh my goodness!! I should have added some smileys!!

I did NOT feel attacked. :D :D I was joking that we were having SO MUCH fun coming up with matches that we ran away with ourselves.

I mean, I KNOW we have a Marjorie Main match in here someplace!! :D :D

Unless it IS Dead End for Joel McCrea! :D :D :D

OK. This appears to be FARMER IN THE DELL

So, Frances Farmer. And Gabriel Dell.

Which leads me to believe the we're looking for Dead End for Joel McCrea because we've got Gabriel Dell and Marjorie Main.

That puts Porter Hall and Veronica Lake back with Sullivan's Travels.

Frances Farmer was in Son of Fury with Tyrone Power but off the top of my head I am not sure who the actor would be.

I probably shouldn't point out that Joel McCrea was in Come and Get It with Frances Farmer. :D :D :D

Guess what I didn't know?

I didn't know there was a movie called Wichita.

A-21 JOEL MCCREA starred in Wichita with B-27. Lloyd BRIDGES and B-58. Peter GRAVES

However, that only complicates Maggie Smith and Room with a View.

If we could somehow shift Julian Sands to Diana Sands and pair her with Beau Bridges in The Landlord. But, no actor. :O

I know, I know. I know.

And B-10. THREE SMART GIRLS.

Jean Smart? Amy Smart?

Ok - I think I have an answer...

Forget Wichita. Forget Sullivan’s Travels.

Joel McCrea was in Ramrod with Veronica Lake and Lloyd Bridges.

That makes it Joel McCrea in Dead End with Marjorie Main, Huntz Hall AND Gabriel Dell.

There’s no Margaret O’Brien/Marjorie Main movie. Just Journey for Margaret

Rupert Graves stays safely with Maggie Smith.

Still don’t have a place for Frances Farmer.

To complicate things further:

A-19 Don Ameche starred in HOMEWARD BOUND as the voice of Shadow, and the other two animals' voices were by B-79 Sally FIELD and B-22 Michael J. FOX. I think this makes a cleaner match than the Tyrone Power movie, although there's no rule saying we couldn't use both.

You might want to look even further into the cast list, too.

That's right! JEAN SMART was the relative? neighbor? who was taking care of the animals when they escaped!

As you wish!

Here are matches I had that you didn't.

Richard KIND (B-69. Close Encounters of the Third Kind, second usage) was also in Inside Out

A-10. Gale Sondergaard in The Mark of Zorro with Tyrone POWER (B-15) and Montagu LOVE (B-54. Love in Bloom, second usage)

Ricki LAKE (B-31) was also in Cry-Baby

Beau BRIDGES (B-27) and Regina KING (B-34. A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, second usage) were also in Jerry Maguire

Here are the matches you had that I didn't.
