The long-running San Francisco musical comedy review, started in 1974 by my namesake, will be closing at the end of the year. The other Steve Silver, who died in 1995, thought the show would only run for a couple of weeks, but it kept going, taking on ever-changing political themes over the years. It is the longest-running stage show in the world.

It is the longest running musical revue. The Mousetrap in London is the longest running stage show.
