I fear I am to blame for this.

They recently opened some (legal) OTB places near me. I decided to try a bet with the Kentucky Derby, betting on Maximum Security -- and we all know how that went.

So, I decided to try the Preakness, though with a small wager on a longshot -- Bodexpress. Didn't take long for that to blow up (and his actions getting to and into the gate didn't foretell a good outcome, either).

Think I'll pass on betting any more on the horses.

I had entirely missed this. Saturday was not a good day. Even just a little laugh like this is good.

Maybe we can get Bruce to dedicate "Born to Run".

Please place a lot of money on the Yankees.

Just out of curiosity, if he had won, would it have counted?

No. A horse must carry a rider when it crosses the finish line. Without a rider, the horse gains an advantage by not having to carry an extra 120 lbs., or whatever a jockey weighs these days.

That's one positive thing to be said about dog-racing. The greyhound must want to win on his or her own.

(There are many terrible things to be said about greyhound racing, too, and I've said many of them.)
