I think you need to recount some asterisks. That may help.
jarnon wrote:Great work, Melly! Just 3 matches to go.

Actually, Freeman has been used just 5 times (I checked and rechecked). So you all still have to find the actor with 6 movies — 1 more for Tartikoff or Freeman, OR 2 more for Harris, Brando, Pidgeon, Bonham Carter, Robards, De Niro, Bickford or Nicholson, OR (least likely) all 3 missing matches belong to a single actor.

These are the remaining partials:

A-13. LLOYD NOLAN in Hannah and Her Sisters with Michael Caine

A-7. DONALD CRISP in Jezebel with Fay Bainter

A-17. HUGH MARLOWE in Elmer Gantry with Shirley Jones

City Slickers with Jack Palance (B-14. THE PROFESSIONALS)

A-16. WALTER PIDGEON in Mrs. Miniver with Teresa Wright

Moonstruck with Olympia Dukakis (B-44. STEEL MAGNOLIAS)

Cat Ballou with Lee Marvin (B-14. THE PROFESSIONALS)

Murder on the Orient Express with Ingrid Bergman (B-70. CASABLANCA)

Gaslight with Ingrid Bergman (B-70. CASABLANCA)

Obviously, most of these (Murder on the Orient Express is particular) will never be completed.

I triple-checked the damn asterisks. What am I missing?

Melly found some additional matches since the last consolidation, including third matches for some people who only had two asterisks on the last consolidation.

Rechecking Melly's posts I found:

A-15. ROBERT DUVALL in The Godfather Part II with Robert De Niro (B-30. MEET THE FOCKERS)

So there are 9 actors with 4 movies each, and one of them must be in a fifth or sixth movie. Did I miss anything else?

Here are the 121 matches found so far (just to prove I counted right)…

Identify the 36 actors in List A and the 70 movies in List B. (Every other clue is a quotation.) Then, match each actor to three or more movies, according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself.

• 1 actor will be matched to 6 moves
• 2 actors will be matched to 5 movies
• 8 actors will be matched to 4 movies
• 25 actors will be matched to 3 movies

34 movies will be used twice, 8 movies will be used three times, and 1 movie will be used four times.

There will be no alternate answers.

Ed Harris also was in the highly controversial Mother with Jennifer Lawrence and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Would have helped if I hadn't counted Freeman/Tandy twice.

I looked at Duvall’s filmography and found:

A-15. ROBERT DUVALL in The Godfather with Marlon Brando (B-67. GUYS AND DOLLS)

Now 8 actors are in 4 movies each, and 3 (Duvall, Freeman and Tamiroff) are in 5 each. One of them must have a sixth match.

So Duvall, who had only 2 matches 18 hours earlier, is the 6-match actor.

WTG SSS and Melly! Frank, that was a wild game.

Good job, everyone! It was a real bitch avoiding alternative matches on this one.

OMG - that was fun!!!

I am glad that Bright Eyes had a part in the first answer, as it's a part of one of my favorite TLAF stories.

TLAF and a couple of girlfriends cut stenog class to see Bright Eyes the day it opened. When they were going back to school that afternoon (they went to the 11 a.m. showing), the stenog teacher was on the front steps of Simon Gratz High School. The girls fessed up.

The other girls went in but the teacher stopped TLAF.

"Miss Ferrante. I would have expected a stunt like that from those other girls. But not from you. Never from you."

"Not from you. Never from you" was a catch phrase with my cousins for years.
