I am having a lot of fun with my (very minor) investment in some Bakken players.

I am absolutely fascinated with watching the dvelopemnts in the field as Sweet spots are delineated and so forth.

I thought TMITTS (especially) might enjoy this link as some of the commenters know some of the inside baseball.

I received my first oil check this week. It was for four months of production. Nov-Dec 2007 and Jan-Feb 2008.

Avg monthly production-- 5,275BBL
Avg monthly $/BBL---87.07

Total taxes paid Fed/State---$130,401

This is just "sick". Oil stuff I mean. This is just one well. There really are some farmers up here that are starting to look like the Clampetts. Really.

If I were the farmer that owned ALL of the minerals on this well, my first four month check would have been aprrox $325,000. One of our "former customers owns all the minerals under 4 wells that each produce more than the the well I described. He is not the only farmer in this situation.

Is that a new Bakken well? or is it one of the older Madison wells?

Bakken
KOOL-What township?-is it part of the Parshall field?-EOG operated or somebody else?yes, I am compulsively digging into some of the geographic minuteu of this thing as I think anyone who frequents a trivia show game-bored should have a right and obligation to do.

I am intrigued by it.

You mentioned Sanish/3 Forks earlier.

There seems to be a strong possibilty that at least in parts of the Bakken that this might be another separate layer below it.

There is even some strong speculation of at least one more horizontal layer below that.

Plus -Dammit-the girl I stood up the night I met Mrs S-(Long story)and with whom things were starting to look very good was a rancher's daughter from the Belfield area-possibly south of the Bakken, but if not-that decision is looking pretty dumb right now <G>
