We are watching

#1 Post by Ritterskoop » Sat Aug 26, 2023 8:55 pm

Ted Lasso is as good as they said, if a smidge profane.

We are trying to go slow on Only Murders in the Building, since Season 3 is one episode a week, after that double-dip the first week.

If you are looking for summer fluff to tide you over, I will never stop recommending Ghosts on CBS. It's about family, even when that means people you are stuck with.

Next up:

Entertainment (previously Weekly) had a piece on 20 family-friendly movies available on Prime https://ew.com/genre/movies/best-family ... zon-prime/, and I picked out some that I think roomie and I will both like.

How to Train Your Dragon
Iron Giant
(the players watched this in a previous Ted Lasso episode)
Rio
Troop Zero

I had never heard of the last one. But of course I was in on the first one as soon as I saw Craig Ferguson's name.

I appreciate your concealing spoilers on these, even though they are old. They are new to me.

You guys:

Only Murders, Season 3, episode 3, THAT SONG.

A ballad can be a showstopper. And it doesn't hurt that the tune is very similar to the show's musical theme. But WITH WORDS.
Spoiler
Every nanny should be a lighthouse!

And just found out, my idol Sara Bareilles co-wrote “Look for the Light” because she is amazing.

I think I loved How to Train Your Dragon even more than my grands.

I wrote this last night:

Gotta Let Go: A Lighthouse No More

(Verse 1)
C G Am F
Hey, it's been a while since we said goodbye;
C G Am F
Thought we closed that chapter; let it all just die.
Dm C G F
But you're back again, knockin' on my door;
Dm C G F
Did you really think I'd feel how I felt before?

(Pre-Chorus)
Am F C G
Love's a burning candle; sometimes it's gotta go out.
Am F C G
Don't you understand what movin' on is all about?

(Chorus)
F C G Am
I can't be your lighthouse in a sea of dark despair.
F C G Am
You're obsessed, and it ain't fair.
F C G Am
The love we had is gone, like a whisper in the air.
F G C
You've gotta let go, gotta let go; we're no longer a pair.

(Verse 2)
C G Am F
You text me late at night, sayin' you're alone.
C G Am F
You linger in my life like an unpaid loan.
Dm C G F
I've got my boundaries drawn up in red.
Dm C G F
You say you miss me, but I'm light-years ahead.

(Bridge)
Dm C F G
I wish you well, don't get me wrong;
Dm C F G
It's just that our love story's no longer a song.
Dm C F G
You're a faded photograph, a chapter closed.
Dm C F G
It's time to leave behind what you've long opposed.

(Outro)
F C G Am
Turn your ship around, sail to a new shore.
F C G Am
Our love's a ghost town; don't haunt it anymore.
F G C
You've gotta let go, gotta let go; we're no longer a pair.
F G C
You've gotta let go, gotta let go; it's time for self-care.
