24. Her first TV series was cancelled before it ever aired although the three produced episodes were later edited into a direct-to-video film; her second series was cancelled after five episodes aired, but in between, she had a major role in a Steven Spielberg film.

I’ve checked every actress who has had a major role in a Spielberg movie (from Goldie Hawn to Michelle Williams) and I can’t find any that fit this timeline. Sorry, too many rabbit holes.

You may be looking too hard at the top-billed actresses in various films. She was sixth-billed in this film but got quite a bit of critical acclaim for her role.

The Tangredi does not have anything to do with the actors' names, so you're not looking for a Sylvester or a Jason anywhere

Embeth Davidtz? She is sixth billed in Schindler's List and a couple billings could fit the rest.

Amy Adams (Catch Me if You Can), Gwyneth Paltrow (Hook) and Rita Moreno (West Side Story) fit the sixth-billed film criteria but not the TV criteria as worded. I’m using the cast list as provided by Wikipedia which seems to match IMDB.

Embeth is close, as you said, but her second series went six episodes, not five.

Both Adams and Elizabeth Banks were in Catch Me if You Can, but that's not one of the choices.

Adams was in The Fighter, a boxing movie like Against the Ropes (which is one of the choices), but no other connection.

I don't know movies well enough to connect her in any other way. Damn.

I've spent several hours on this the last week or so, but haven't cracked it. I think the fact that Legally Blonde is on the movie list, and ELLE Fanning is on the actor list, is a pretty big coincidence. But I can't find a Woods anywhere, nor any other obvious matches. Many of the other movies on the list are a little obscure for me.

Three of the actor answers are wrong. One of these is 49, which is ambiguous depending on how you define "separate categories." Let's just say I'm looking for a different well-known, multi-talented actor.

Six of the film answers are wrong. Once you figure the Tangredi, you may be able to weed some of them out (and the word weed isn't a clue). Clue C is a superhero movie, and once you solve it, you may be able to spot one of the better-known Tangredi matches. The wording of the clue isn't to be taken literally.

That's one answer I have no doubt about! The incident was notorious at the time.
