24. Her first TV series was cancelled before it ever aired although the three produced episodes were later edited into a direct-to-video film; her second series was cancelled after five episodes aired, but in between, she had a major role in a Steven Spielberg film.

I’ve checked every actress who has had a major role in a Spielberg movie (from Goldie Hawn to Michelle Williams) and I can’t find any that fit this timeline. Sorry, too many rabbit holes.
You may be looking too hard at the top-billed actresses in various films. She was sixth-billed in this film but got quite a bit of critical acclaim for her role.

The Tangredi does not have anything to do with the actors' names, so you're not looking for a Sylvester or a Jason anywhere
Embeth Davidtz? She is sixth billed in Schindler's List and a couple billings could fit the rest.
Amy Adams (Catch Me if You Can), Gwyneth Paltrow (Hook) and Rita Moreno (West Side Story) fit the sixth-billed film criteria but not the TV criteria as worded. I’m using the cast list as provided by Wikipedia which seems to match IMDB.

Embeth is close, as you said, but her second series went six episodes, not five.

The actors on this list are used in two different, but somewhat related capacities. They are paired together through the films.
The two actors and film together form a pair, and you should be very familiar with some of these pairs. That's why looking more closely at Dorothy Provine and then at the other actors on the list may give you a good idea about one pair, and you can then check the films to see how one of them fits in as well.

When I see Dorothy Provine, I immediately think of IAMMMMW. But I've been assuming that the linkage has nothing to do with IAMMMMW, since you referenced the Big W in the clue. Was that a false assumption?

My other immediate Provine associations are with the films That Darn Cat and Who's Minding the Mint and the tv series The Roaring Twenties.

Glad you're back. You are correct that the Tangredi does not have anything to do with that certain little known comedy. You are on the right track as far as figuring out the Tangredi, but it's a case of right church, wrong pew(s).

Dorothy Provine played Bonnie Parker in an earlier film, and Warren Beatty is here on the list. And Faye Dunaway was in Oklahoma Crude. This seems like it might be promising.

Both Adams and Elizabeth Banks were in Catch Me if You Can, but that's not one of the choices.

Adams was in The Fighter, a boxing movie like Against the Ropes (which is one of the choices), but no other connection.

I don't know movies well enough to connect her in any other way. Damn.

I've spent several hours on this the last week or so, but haven't cracked it. I think the fact that Legally Blonde is on the movie list, and ELLE Fanning is on the actor list, is a pretty big coincidence. But I can't find a Woods anywhere, nor any other obvious matches. Many of the other movies on the list are a little obscure for me.

Amy Adams played Amelia Earhart in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, who was also played by Diane Keaton in Amelia, who goes with ?????

Or maybe the connection is Ben Stiller or Jack Nicholson or...or...or

I have no idea.

Some of the matches are obscure for me to get up to 50 (which was an arbitrary number I picked and has nothing to do with the Tangredi), but many of them involve very well-known movies. Frank was very, very, very close to figuring out how it works.

Three of the actor answers are wrong. One of these is 49, which is ambiguous depending on how you define "separate categories." Let's just say I'm looking for a different well-known, multi-talented actor.

Six of the film answers are wrong. Once you figure the Tangredi, you may be able to weed some of them out (and the word weed isn't a clue). Clue C is a superhero movie, and once you solve it, you may be able to spot one of the better-known Tangredi matches. The wording of the clue isn't to be taken literally.

Some observations based on Frank’s last post:

Crispin Glover played Andy Warhol

Rob Lowe played JFK,
Gary Oldman played Lee Harvey Oswald

Paul LeMat played Melvin Dummar
Warren Beatty played Howard Hughes

Jennifer Jason Leigh played Dorothy Parker who is a character in Julia, which stars Jane Fonda

Woody Harrelson played LBJ

Two of Vandal's observations relate to the Tangredi, although neither in quite the way he phrased them. One of them involves one of the incorrect actor answers.

I don't know the rationale for Rob Lowe being the answer to 38., but that appears to be incorrect. I can't find a correct answer from those few breadcrumbs in the clue, though.

That's one answer I have no doubt about! The incident was notorious at the time.

38. His worst appearance was in an independent production made shortly before the 1988 Democratic Convention; neither of his co-stars ever appeared in another movie.

From Wikipedia:
In 1988, Lowe, who was 24 years old at the time, was involved in a sex scandal over a videotape of him having sex with two women: Tara Siebert who was 22 and her younger friend Lena Jan Parsons who was 16 years old at the time. The three met at Club Rio, an Atlanta nightclub. They were videotaped the night before the Democratic National Convention in Atlanta, Georgia.
