Lyrically Speaking - 1/29/24

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Mon Jan 29, 2024 7:36 am

Sesame Street Monday this week is brought to you by the letter C! Yes, that letter that can't decide whether it wants to be a K or an S.... but nevertheless got third billing when they sorted out the alphabet. All of the odd numbered songs begin with the letter C, while all of the even numbered songs are by C artists...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

Once again, the Monday game has angered the Internal Server Error gremlins, so if you copy/paste the lyrics, leave the bolded word in #3 bolded!

1. Tonight I'm gonna break away
Just you wait and see

2. Ribbons from her hair, souvenirs of days together
The ring she used to wear, pages from an old love letter

3. Cover me with kisses, baby
Cover me with love
Roll me in designer sheets
I'll never get enough

4. Her diary, it sits by the bedside table
The curtains are closed, the cats in the cradle
Who would've thought that a boy like me could come to this

5. And then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two
There was blood and a single gunshot
But just who shot who?

6. Oh, I know your back hurts from working on the tractor
How do you take your coffee my sweet?

7. They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name

8. And we stare at the beautiful women
She's looking at you
Ah, no, no, she's looking at me

9. Neon lights, a Nobel prize
When a mirror speaks, the reflection lies

10. But if I seem to be confused
I didn't mean to be with you
And when you said I scared you
Well I guess you scared me too

11. A million young poets screaming out their words
To a world full of people just living to be heard
Future generations, riding on the highways that we built
I hope they have a better understanding

12. It's your world and I'm just a squirrel
Tryin' to get a nut to move your butt

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with a title or done by an artist that begins with the letter C (five points if the song AND artist both start with C).

The ring she used to wear, pages from an old love letter

Where Have All the Cowboys Gone - Paula Cole

I was thinking up a joke answer involving country cowboys when it hit me. Ah, the good ol' days when female artists were measured by the length of their pit hair...

7. They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name

Candle in the Wind - Elton John

I have absolutely no memory of that treadmill line, but the rest of it tracks...

8. And we stare at the beautiful women
She's looking at you

Mr Jones - Counting Crows

Another double krox down the crapper, I've got one more left in me....

9. Neon lights, a Nobel prize

Cult of Personality - Living Colour

If it don't have the U, it don't count...

Unlike V, which was probably impossible, I think everyone found a double-C for this game.... with the exception of melly and Earl. Melly gets the bonus anyway since I already screwed up by using Van Morrison in the V game. Earl gets her wish respected of always going with the bit over the points and just gets the standard Krox deuce...
