Lyrically Speaking - 1/30/24

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Tue Jan 30, 2024 7:48 am

The second edition of Tuesday Hidden Wordplay shouldn't be much more difficult than the first game. Each of these twelve songs has a word somewhere in its lyrics (but not in the title) in common, and I think it'll only take a few songs to clue you onto it...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the key word...

1. Inside him, there's longing
This girl's an open page
Book marking, she's so close now
This girl is half his age

2. Haggerties and Swamies
Pacific Palisades
San Onofre and Sunset
Redondo Beach LA

3. Fe-fe, fi-fi, fo-fo, fum
I smell smoke in the auditorium

4. Tryin' your best to bring the
Water to your eyes
Thinkin' it might stop her
From whoopin' your behind

5. People moving out, people moving in
Why, because of the color of their skin

6. Don't step out of this house if that's the clothes you're gonna wear
I'll kick you out of my home if you don't cut that hair

7. Ever since I was a tiny boy
I don't want no candy, I don't need no toy

8. We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control

9. Joan was quizzical, studied pataphysical
Science in the home

10. So when you say that you need me
That you'll never leave me
I know you're wrong, you're not that strong
Let me go

11. My buddy Brandon holds a record
For single season touchdown throws
And good old Johnny, he's the life of every party
It's like Cheers, they know him everywhere he goes

12. Plastic tubes and pots and pans
Bits and pieces and
Bits and pieces and

What's the key word of the day?

I was going with my pal Chuck and No Particular Place to Go, but I've been obsessed with this musical since I first heard the soundtrack (I even have a Divorced, Beheaded, Died t-shirt and you would be amazed at how 99.8494833 of the general public who have commented on it have absolutely no idea to what it refers) and this is one of my fave tunes

JJC Points:

Krox gets 2 JJC points for giving me a stroke (the day after Vandal gave me a seizure)....

frank gets 2 JJC points for no teacher I ever had (I had more teachers in common with my parents, who are 20 years older than me, than my sisters who are all just a few years younger than me....)

jarnon gets 3 JJC points for Chuck...

Panic gets 2 JJC points for early retirement...

Bob gets 2 JJC points for the LSWE's favorite Merry Man.... er, woman.

Weasel gets 2 JJC points for making me watch two videos...

Beebs gets a supermax for Ed Gein, substitute teacher...

BiT gets a supermax for an old school teacher and because I'm a dumbass...

Vandal gets 2 JJC points for having me all over Google trying to figure out what his image was (and we all know boobs are the best way to raise money)....

mrk gets 3 JJC points for old jokes and bad physics (I might've given him a supermax if he'd have said hi to Sammy Slacks)....

Hottie gets a JJC point because I'd have totally put Carrie Anne in the game if I'd have thought of it...

Earl gets 2 JJC points for daring to ask for 4 JJC's and for lame excuses...

JJC Points:

BiT gets a supermax for an old school teacher... Just 1 point? And that was Ann Sullivan, by the way. Hellen Keller's teacher we all learned about. At least back in my day we did. :)

..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

War is where the government tells you who the bad guy is.
Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.

I did get that it was Ann Sullivan from Google, who is a pretty old school teacher. And she had nothing on Frank's teacher, or she may have gotten you more points....

Ha! I thought you had put supermax in the quote to be cute, and I see I mistyped it while writing up the JJC points! So I guess for that, I'll go ahead and give you the five points...
