Lyrically Speaking - 2/13/24

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Tue Feb 13, 2024 3:18 am

Tuesday Hidden Wordplay once again features twelve songs that all have a certain word in common somewhere in the song's lyrics. I'm pretty sure this one will not be quite as easy as the first three have been, but I still think most of you will succeed in rooting it out...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the key word contained in each song's lyrics....

1. I was dreamin' when I wrote this
Forgive me if it goes astray

2. Number 47 said to number 3
You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see

3. Makin' a livin' the old hard way
Takin' and givin' my day by day
I dig snow and rain and bright sunshine

4. Well it's alright, even if they say you're wrong
Well it's alright, sometimes you gotta be strong

5. Chewing on a piece of grass, walking down the road
Tell me, how long you're gonna stay here, Joe?

6. Shush girl shut your lips,
Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips

7. Come on, babe on the roundabout
Ride on the merry-go-round
We all know what your name is
So you better lay your money down

8. Edge of night, distract yourself
Obstacles don't work
Homogenize, decentralize
It's just a quirk

9. Hello my love, I heard a kiss from you
Red magic satin playing near, too
All through the morning rain I gaze, the sun doesn't shine
Rainbows and waterfalls run through my mind

10. Deepening shadows gather splendor
As day is done
Fingers of night will soon surrender
The setting sun

11. Everybody go: Hotel, motel, Holiday Inn
You see, if your girl starts acting up, then you take her friend

12. Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face
Caesar's palace, morning glory, silly human race,
On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place,
If the summer change to winter

What is the key word of the day?

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist where the key word is somewhere in the lyrics, but not the title.

1. I was dreamin' when I wrote this
Forgive me if it goes astray
1999 - Prince (Such an old fashioned year now, isn't it?)

2. Number 47 said to number 3
You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see
Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Presley (I'll bet that wasn't a coed prison either....)

3. Makin' a livin' the old hard way
Takin' and givin' my day by day
I dig snow and rain and bright sunshine
Draggin' The LIne - Tommy James (No, the Shondells are not optional. This may be the first time I ever decided to actually enforce one of the LSWE's most famous rules. This was Tommy's big solo hit, so adding the Shondells was incorrect via the PCR...)

4. Well it's alright, even if they say you're wrong
Well it's alright, sometimes you gotta be strong
End of the Line - Traveling Wilburys

5. Chewing on a piece of grass, walking down the road
Tell me, how long you're gonna stay here, Joe?
Ventura Highway - Amurrica

6. Shush girl shut your lips,
Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips
Don't Trust Me - 3Oh!3, or something like that (Ah, the days when this song and Blame It On The A-a-a-a-a-alcohol were every other song on the Top 40 station that played at work...)

7. Come on, babe on the roundabout
Ride on the merry-go-round
We all know what your name is
So you better lay your money down
Livin' Lovin' Maid - Led Zeppelin (Another song the band named while stone out of their mind...)

8. Edge of night, distract yourself
Obstacles don't work
Homogenize, decentralize
It's just a quirk
Candy-O - The Cars

9. Hello my love, I heard a kiss from you
Red magic satin playing near, too
All through the morning rain I gaze, the sun doesn't shine
Rainbows and waterfalls run through my mind
Strawberry Letter 23 - Brothers Johnson

10. Deepening shadows gather splendor
As day is done
Fingers of night will soon surrender
The setting sun
Twilight Time - Platters

11. Everybody go: Hotel, motel, Holiday Inn
You see, if your girl starts acting up, then you take her friend
Rapper's Delight - Sugarhill Gang

12. Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face
Caesar's palace, morning glory, silly human race,
On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place,
If the summer change to winter
Yours Is No Disgrace - Yes (I was listening to the local rock station's "no repeat week" the week after Christmas when I was compiling these games, and they played this one and the alarm bells rang when I heard the word "purple," and I finally got this game filled out...)

What is the key word of the day?

PURPLE!

Image Bonus: If you know the word.....

Grimace would have gotten someone an automatic IBB, but there are apparently no other fans of the world's largest buttplug out there. Weasel could have won it had he put Purple Hays first. Instead, I'll give it to Frank for his one eyed one horned flying purple people eater chasing all those purple people around...
