Writer best known for creating the 1970s TV series James at 15 (later James at 16) and writing the novels, Going All the Way and Starting Over, both of which were made into films. James at 15 was controversial at the time for airing an episode in which the title character lost his virginity (Wakefield left the show after the episode aired and it was cancelled soon after).
