RIP Alexander Courage
Best known as the composer of the original Star Trek theme, at age 88.
"Elen sila lumenn omentielvo...A star shines on the hour of our meeting."

Because of these lyrics penned by Gene Roddenberry, for the sole purpose of pretty much legally stealing half of Courage's royalties, Courage never composed anything else for Star Trek again.
Beyond the rim of the starlight,
my love is wandring in star flight.
I know he'll find
In star clustered reaches
Love, strange love
A starwoman teaches.
I konw his journey ends never.
His Star Trek will go on forever.
But tell him while
He wanders his starry sea,
Remember,
Remember me.
Beyond the rim of the starlight,
my love is wandring in star flight.
I know he'll find
In star clustered reaches
Love, strange love
A starwoman teaches.
I konw his journey ends never.
His Star Trek will go on forever.
But tell him while
He wanders his starry sea,
Remember,
Remember me.

He did, however, compose music for other TV shows such as Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. What Roddenberry did to Courage was wrong.Jeemie wrote:Because of these lyrics penned by Gene Roddenberry, for the sole purpose of pretty much legally stealing half of Courage's royalties, Courage never composed anything else for Star Trek again.

That's one of those that I can tell you what it is from the first note I hear.
He did a superb job.
I dint know about Roddenberry's skulduggery. That's crummy.
