Francesco Caporusso
New York, NY

Francesco has used up all his lifelines, but he still has one ace in the hole; he's been reading through his wife's celebrity gossip magazines.

$25,000
In the classic film, "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," Jimmy Stewart passionately argues against legislation that would result in what?

A: Imposition of a tax B: Repeal of a treaty
C: Building of a dam D: Dismantling of a company

Francesco is pretty sure it wasn't the tax or the treaty. His gut says it's the dam. Trusting his gut usually works out well.

Francesco: I'm gonna trust my gut on this one, again. I'm gonna go with building of a dam, final answer.

Meredith: [grimacing] Your gut can't always be right.

Francesco: Awwww!

Meredith: It's right! It's right!

$50,000
Who was the only U.S. president to get married at the White House?

A: Grover Cleveland B: Benjamin Harrison
C: William H. Taft D: Ulysses S. Grant

Francesco thinks it may be Grover Cleveland, but he switches the question.

STQ $50,000
What chemical compound is also a word meaning "a boring person"?

A: Sulfate B: Nitrate
C: Phenol D: Bromide

Francesco: I really have no idea, so I'm just gonna trust my gut again. I'm gonna go with bromide, final answer.

Meredith: You have an incredible gut! It is bromide.

$100,000
What country's capital city has a name that means "capital" in its native tongue?

A: Indonesia B: Afghanistan
C: Cambodia D: South Korea

Francesco's wife was in Seoul, South Korea, this morning, coming back from China.

Francesco: Too bad I didn't ask her what that meant.

Francesco is going to risk it. He's going to go with Cambodia.

Meredith: You know what's so funny? You wife was in the right answer.

Francesco falls to $25,000.

So much for Francesco being one and doneĀ®.

$50K: I knew this one even before the choices came up.

$50K: I never would've seen this question, but I would've said phenol.

$100K: This is one geography question that I do not know. PAF, please.

With the right PAF, I'll be going for $250K with 50:50 and STQ.

That could possibly be of use, given some of the questions asked on the show. I still have all my lifelines available.

In the comfort of my recliner I guessed correctly on this, even though it seemed more likely that it was "A" or "B" (being more the provice of the Federal government). In the HS I probably would have gone straight to PAF.

No need to STQ for me - this is a standard trivia question.

I've heard the term "bromide" applied to commonplace sayings (usually found in books written in or about the 50s) but not to a person. But since I didn't STQ I don't have to worry about this one.

OK, now it's time to STQ. I wonder what the other $100K question would have been.
