That was my first thought, too. But Judging Amy is now shown on TNT, which is a cable network.

I think Judging Amy might be what he was going for.

Airing on TNT would still be in syndication.

Brennerman was Ex. Prod. on 8 episodes in the series' final season.

Yes it is indeed Judging Amy The show's concept was based on the real-life experiences of her mother, Frederica Brenneman, as a superior court judge in the state of Connecticut.
